Bow Eye Crack

Well I haven't even had my boat in the water yet, purchased used. A 2002 210 cc. There is a crack coming from the bow eye. I bought the boat from someone in FL and had it shipped to Hawaii. So I cannot determine when this happened but most likely while it was being towed from FL to CA. Since I have never had it in the water I'm not sure if this would be above or below the water line. Should this keep me off the water or should I just squirt some Rule in there until I can get it properly fixed? Also, there is an empty hole there, does that mean this is aftermarket hardware? Will this still be coved under warranty? I did transfer the warranty. What do you think the chances are of getting warranty service in Hawaii??

Crack in hull?

There should be a cover that can be unscrewed (removed) to see where the crack originated. My Bow eye has a backing plate as all boats should.

If there is a major crack in the hull, I would not take the boat out but get in touch with Triumph directly.

As long as you have a warrenty transfer, it will be covered. Not sure if they have a dealer in the big H, perhaps randy can advise on this.

The Hole

From previous posts I believe the hole is a drain and is ok. Open the access cover and make sure the nuts are tight. Mine weren't from the factory. This might help the backing plate hold the crack closed. That is a guess. Good luck

You should contact Customer Service at Triumph Boats on this. No need speculating when they can work to resolve this for you.

The hole under the bow eye is a drain hole for the anchor box. No problem there. But the crack behind the bow eye needs to be repaired. Not sure how that happened but it is fixable for sure. If you wanted to get on the water before it is repaired you could seal it with RULE and I think you'd be fine. But I'd be concerned about putting more stress on the bow eye when pulling it out of the water. If it is on the trailer right now and you're not towing it somewhere, I'd back off on the tension of the strap.

My 01 210 Cc Has The Crack On The Inside Where The Plastic Did Not Make A Solid "kissoff" Between The Inside Of The Locker And The Outer Hull. I Also Noticed That It Has Been Welded Several Places Inside By Previous Owners/dealers. I Will Be Cutting Out All That Area Where There Is Separation And Try To Get A Solid Area For The Eye To Attach To. Again Another Example Of In My Opinion Only Where The Earlier Models' Recipe Was Not Quite Right And How Far The 210/215 Has Come In Getting To Be The Great Model It Is Now. Fortunately , They Are So Easy To Work On That Something Like This Doesnt Bother Me As Much As My Breathern --as I Tend To Be A Hands On Want To Know How It All Works Kind Of Guy . Also, I Do Not Have A Warranty And Merritt Marine Is There For Me If I Do Need Help Beyond My Abilities

So there is no crack in the anchor box so this would mean that the water would go in between the hull? Keep your fingers crossed as I am contancting Triumph...

Fatigue cracks

That’s a fatigue crack. It’s caused by pulling on the bow eye.

I never pull the boat on the trailer. I motor as far up as possible and pull up the last inch while some of the boat is still floating. That way, you don’t put such a strain on the bow eye and surrounding area.

In the Triumph owners manual, it states that when you arrive home, you should loosen the bow eye strap and rear tie downs to reduce the strain on these parts.

Triumph really should make a larger backing plate to spread the load.

The hole below the bow eye is suspicious too. I own a 17 footer and there is no hole right below the bow eye. The hole may have weakened the surrounding area.

Well, I talked to factory. They said they were going to send me some welding rod and an instructional video. He said it was really easy. I sure hope so... Oh yeah, they are also sending me another bracket to put on the inside of anchor box for the bow eye. Anybody who know how to weld planning a Hawaii trip??

Good for Triumph for sending those supplies. I've got a section in my Modifications and Maintenance DVD on welding Roplene. If I can get taxes done this weekend, I'll be editing again next week on the video. I hope it will be finished this month and ready to ship out to folks that have already ordered it. You folks have been very patient!
