Talking installing Kicker motor

I just purchased a 2001 logic 210cc and was wondering if any one has any info on how to attach a yamaha 4 stroke 9.9 hp kicker motor on the transom. any help would be great. will the transom be strong enough to travel the highways with the kicker on as i want to use a troll amatic device thats requires me to leave the kicker on the boat all the time

Thanks

Check out the members gallery for some good pictures and search the threads, I can't remember who had them but there a few to view. The other thing to check into is transom weight. I believe the 2007 is the last to have a 550lb allowable weight. I am not sure of the earlier models I believe you are ok, there seem to be a couple variations but they all seem to attach to the hull the same.

Checked with the factory on this and here is their response:

We do not condemn nor do we endorse the addition of a kicker motor to the 215. Due to the many different configurations that can come into play. We know it has been done successfully with no problems, as with most modifications we are not going to say with a blanket statement that
do this or your warranty will be voided, however if a problem were to occur and it was determined that it was the modification that caused it then that issue would not be covered. Your best resources are owners
that have performed the modification successfully and pick there brains.

Natejr55,

I am one who has mounted a kicker motor on a bracket on my '04 210. I have had no issues with the modification. I am not sure what the weight is for a 9.9 4S Yamaha is but you would sure want to watch the total weight issue. Because of the design of the transom well and the tendency for the well scuppers to allow water to flow into the bilge, any additional weight at the rear could exaserbate that problem.

I hang a Honda 7.5 on my bracket and the added weight is noticeable. I do not trailer with the kicker on the bracket as I do not want to add the extra stress to the transom or the Garelick bracket. My main concern is the torsional forces on the bracket that will lead to excessive and premature wear on the pivot points in the bracket.

I understand your throttle linkage problem but would encourage you to rethink that hookup so the motor could be removed for travel. If you don't remove, at least tie the motor up tight to the cleat so the movement of the bracket, if it is of the type that raises and lowers, like mine, that it is minimal. If you go with a fixed mount then the pivot point wear is eliminated. In that case I believe the transom is plenty stout enought to withstand the trailering. Glass boats do it all the time with no problems, why not a roplene boat?

If you have any specific questions, feel free to PM me with them.
