Red face Rat Nest Everywhere!!!

Hi Dak,

I think PAMarine would love to tear out all the wire and rebuild it with lots of zip ties, but, that may cost too much.

If I flipped the photo correctly, the volt meter only has one wire attached, the one on the top that may be a daisy chained ground? or light?

You may notice that the other guages have ring terminals attached to post of the guages, but, your volt meter doesn't have any wires attached to the post. No wire, no power, no work.

Perhaps bribe a local marine electrican with lots of beer for some help?

Keep us posted.

Yeah Barry, I just want to make sure that I reattach the right wires. I tested the three loose wires that are brown combos with the key on with a test light and none of those are hot. The only loose wire I found to be hot was the Red wire with the yellow on the end but those don't look stock. Once I get everything working properly it will be time to clean house under there.

Lightbulb In that case...

Why not just rewire the guage?

One side will be hot (red) the other side will be ground (black). Try for a quick moment, if the guage goes backwards, reverse the leads.

By the way, the motor looks "GREAT" for an older boat.

I agree! I was relieved when I picked up the boat from the shipper since I bought it only seeing pictures. It was from Florida and I'm in Hawaii

Well, I found one end of the hose in this picture on the center guage

Now you just need to find the other end of that very same black hose on the block and yes, it will be plugged into the same type of brass fitting on engine also

Voltmeter

The Voltmeter isn't working because it's not connected. In the Picture Dave posted, the Weater Pressure guage is in the middle, the Fuel Gauge on the Right, and the volt Meter on the left. I am assuming these are the Stock Faria Gauges. If so, the post with the Red cap needs to be connected to the 12vdc Negative Circuit (Solid Black or Solid Yellow Wires) and the Post without the cap need to be connected to the "Run" Terminal on the Ignition Switch (with a red Wire). The Black wire on the top of the Guage should actually be Dark Blue (Maybe it is, can't be for sure) and is for the Instrument Light. I know it was kinda a joke, but I would rather you have a safe and functioning electrical system than a expensive pretty one. (Unless you live in Hampton Roads and are hiring me, in which case you will get both, lol) Hope this Helps.

Heh heh, I know it's not hooked up. That's why I was asking what colors are on the backs of others. That way I could reconnect it with the right wires. I'm sure the wires are still there, I just want to use the ones that were put in for it. That way if I switch batteries or whatever it's still working. Yes, it is a dark blue wire for the lights.

Thanks, I found that end rather easy. It's the other end I don't know.

Lightbulb Here is a thought...

Hi DAK,

With the engine cover off, look for the "pee" hole (where the water comes out) and follow the line. See if there is a "tee" somewhere in the line. One end should go to the motor, one end will go to the pee hole and the other may go to the PSI guage.

Just a guess since my Yamaha 70 doesn't have a guage.

Hope that works.
