You guys are kidding ... I have a 175hp Etec on my 195DC and it's great.

If I had a 215 or 210 it would have a 200 HP ... You don't have to use it just 'cause it's there, but it's nice to have a bit in reserve!

Honda is having a deal that they will extend warranty from 3 to 5 years and great finance rates to boot. Just thought I add 2 more cents to the debate.

Thanks for the 2 cents; I'm gonna need it! It's hard to get financing on just a motor in North Carolina due to laws restricting types of liens, so the only choices are personal loan or credit cards. I already pulled the trigger on a Yamaha 4 stroke, and the special order command link digital gauges are probably already on site if not installed by now.

I was told this would likely be a one week turnaround, which means I'll be back on the water as soon as Monday! Anybody here been to Masonboro Island? I'm having the work done in the Wrightsville Beach area.

I had a modified (just slightly) 200 HPDI on my old 210 and it would fly and chine walk and get a little loose, as it would start to creap over the 50 MPH mark. So as I have said a lot of times, hulls will only return so much speed once you are at the upper end the of recommended HP ratings.

That being said though, you could hang a 300 on the rear and not get any better performance if you over trim it I say work with some props and don't tilt it so high, and you will be fine... All props and engines will blow out though if over trimed and to me, the only advantage you could gain (though important I agree) is by going to a injected 4 stroke engine to save on fuel.

If I wanted to save on fuel, I wouldn't have a boat! LOL!

I agree to a point... I always follow the rule of don't drive a boat where you can drag it

My Honda 150 on my 190 combo has a running average of 1.8 GPH across the board so I can't complain. And now very glad (as I suspected that I would) that I spent the extra money years ago to get such a fuel efficient engine.

Well, the boat's ready after just under a week. We suspected I'd have to change the prop - I couldn't get beyond 5100 rpm before, and when they ran the new engine, it couldn't get beyond 5200. Changing to a different prop got it up to 5800 rpm.

They noticed how hard it was to shift. I always thought that was just the motor transmission, but they said it was just as tough with the new 4-stroke and shouldn't be. They recommended a Yamaha brand oil-filled shift cable to replace the generic one installed in the boat. The Yammy cable is only $110, so that was a no-brainer. I can't wait to see how much easier it is around the docks when I don't have to fight it back and forth out of neutral.

My wife and I took Monday off, so we'll be picking it up then. We finally have an excuse to take our boat around the ICW and Cape Fear River.

**Edit: Were the shift cable and gauges installed at the Triumph factory, or are they put in by the dealership when the engine is installed?

Bob,

WOT on your old Suzuki is 6200 rpm. I have used a factory aluminum at 19P and now have a Propulse 4 blade set at 18P. With full load of fuel, gear and two 240 lb passengers it winds up to 6200 with no problem if it is trimmed correctly. I think you had a bad engine. Top speed is 38 mph. Plenty of torque.

Don't know yet. Monday was our first outing with the new heart. We're still in the break-in period, not to mention the 25mph winds in Wrightsville stirred up a chop that wasn't condusive to WOT.

The new engine is mighty quiet!
