I posted a prior artical regarding props however q most recent trip in the Keys I recorded some good performance numbers from my past artical. Noting 38 kts on my GPS and 45 mph on the speedo. The Kts convert accurately but when I was done with the trip for the day I looked back on my trip log on my GPS is showed 39 kts. That's almost 47 mph.
I did my homework when it came to changing props and I can honestly state "you get what you pay for". I went with the Yamaha relilance series 17px14.25" to replace the 19p aluminum. I would get the 43mph advertised speed but it was sluggish out of the hole and I was working the throttle offshore. 5200-5300rpm was the best I could do with the aluminum and it would cavitate above that or in turns and wouldn't hold speed in the heavy seas. The 17p 14.25 SS Reliance feels like I added another 20-30 HP and understood by the extra 800 rpm that was never seen before. It grips well in turns and feels like I repowered the boat. My fishing buddies agree. Now I'm not working the throttle offshore and based on my numbers I'm confident in the performance and efficency in the motor. I would highly recommend this to anyone who owns a 215 with the F150. |

Chine Walk
Chine walk is the tendancy for the stern of a boat to slip outwards during turns at high speeds. It feels like the Chine (the hard edge where the side turn to go to the keel) is "skipping" across the water.

Can you recommend a dealer where I can get the same prop. I would like to try and replicate your success.

Swamp,
I have an 02 210CC with a Merc 150 two stroke, carbed unit on it. I too want more power and less trouble with the engine trimmed up. Better gas mileage and lower noise only sweeten the deal. I am currently lusting for a 200HP Etec after seeing their propaganda video. (BTW, I am a hard core four stroke guy, I have a four stroke dirt bike and a four stroke weed whacker). All that said, I am axiously awaiting the results of your testing, and I also have a question: -OK, you bought a honda. But which one? Thanks for sharing. Ted |

SUPER quiet at idle and trolling speed, quite a bit quieter at planing speed (with a higher pitch whine replacing the throaty 2-stroke roar). Best cruising efficiency with three aboard is 4.4 miles/gallon at 23 mph. New Yamaha brand shift cable: Priceless! Idling and trolling downwind is also a lot less smelly, especially when the motor's trimmed way up for the shallows. EDIT: Oh, yeah; forgot to mention: Top speed is 43 mph with three aboard, T-top, and half a tank of fuel. |

Our 215 has a Suzuki 175 on it and it performs flawlessly. 250hrs on it and it idles slow enough to troll with, full of gear plus our family of five, three kids the dog and cat, 35mph cruising at 5500rpm she gets 3.2mpg average. The only time it gets worse than that is when in moderate to heavy seas running up the swells. If considering anything larger, watch the weight. The really nice addition is you can plug in an EDM 2000 harness, the EP-20 directly into the engine harness that runs into the newer Lowrance products and you can get engine temps, fuel flow, GPH and more on a customizable screen. With product you do not have to buy the $400.00 guage from Suzuki.

I have a Yamaha Ox66 200 2 stroke on mine, and love it... It will run 52+ ... I love when the bowriders try to keep up... with the 200, and the deep-V, its alot of fun.
