back rest

has any one had trouble with their back rest on the cooler seat on the front of the cc falling down. mine will not say up. the roplene has been distorted where it fits over the t-top tube. has anyone came up with a better way to mount the back rest to the tube.the problem is where the roplene fits over the tube is not thick enough and bends out of shape. thanks

I had this same problem; yet as soon as it starts to distort; I took a short bungee (one that would barely stretch;putting maximum pull on it)...and hooked it to each end; pulling it into shape...it's been liike that for the past year and no troubles. ? but, overall...it probably won't last forever like that. So, if you come up w/ something else; let me know. Gator

hi gator hope very thing has been going your way. i am going to see if i can buy the two side pieces that clip on the t-top tubing from triumph and screw them to the ones that are on the back rest i have. so they will be thicker and not bend. than see if i can fine some kind some spring loaded latch or rubber latch and mount it to the center of the back of the rest and to the cc. i have got the word out to the factory about it.and want to see what they say frist if they have a better fix.. befor i do anything..thanks gator

that sounds good. I'd think the factory would do this no charge; since it's a common problem. Post a picture if you get it right. Thanks. Gator

I checked with the folks at the Triumph factory on this and here is their response:
Quote:
They can go to their Triumph dealer and get a brace that will keep the bottom of the hooks from bending out.

I got the same response......guess its not a warranty issue....I have a 2007

mine started to bend forward as others described, but on my last trip it cracked.....hardly anyone sits up there, I guess the vibration over the past year or so broke it
