Great post!
Thozguy, once the cable was in, did you have to do anything to get the info showing on your MFD? I hope to do this myself in the next month or so. Thanks for the detailed info!

Once the cable is connected to the Display and the enginen thru the NMEA network, all you need to do is apply power to the engine by turning the ingnition to the "On" position.
I can't say how much this modification has helped me. We just went out over 40 miles for Albacore, Yellow Fin Tuna, and Marlin without worrying about how much fuel was remaining. Something as simple as knowing what your fuel reserves are, definately removes alot of stress when you are in the middle of the ocean. |

Update
Hey all, I have just run the Lowrance cable between my Yamaha F75 and the Lowrance 520C. The installation was pretty simple thanks to Thozguys!!!!!!
Mine is a bit different with slightly different results. I already have a trimguage, (even though it isn't very accurate), so the pink wire plug in still doesn't show the trim on the MFD. Still checking that out. I definately have fuel flow! I do not find the "fuel remaining" capability on my unit. I do show "boost pressure" and some others I am checking into. I haven't had it in the water yet so not enough time to get comfortable with it but am planning a Halibut trip on Tuesday out of the Berzerkley Marina. I will try to post the relevant pics of my hook up. I had to get a 2' extension cable to finish my installation but it hooked right into my network connection and once the engine is running, (not just ignition "on"), the options come available for usage. The white plug on the left of center in the first thumbnail is the one hooked up to. The pink wires are in the front of the engine,(2nd pic). 3rd pic shows the wiring grommet removed for cable running, I just redid the zip ties. Fyi; the black ones the dealer put on when they ran my trim guage just broke off in my hand, no cutting! I don't know how to take and edit the screen shots but will try to answer any questions. Thanks again to Thozguys!

Did you find the custom gages page and try adding the instrument you would like to see. Lowrance gives you lots of options of size and shape and moving them around it just takes a bit of time

Data viewing
Thanks John, I saw all the data that was avilable. I am actually showing an "engine temp" but I don't know what it is from, it is a water temp because it is too low for a cylinder temp.
But now I have a different problem that if I am lucky, i will figure out today. The GPS unit isn't seeing any satellites. I downloaded the soft and hard reset instructions from Lowrance to see if this works and have disconnected the engine from the network to see if that worked and will leave it off for the reset. Hopefully it wii come back and continue to operate after the engine is reconnected to the network. I will keep ya'll informed. Also as an FYI, when I re-ziptied the wires etc from the engine, I was a little over zealous and closed off the speed indicator pressure tube. Re-did zip ties a little looser and massaged the tube closer to original shape. Won't know if that works until I get back in the water. Went Halibut fishing in the bay with my buddy but we still don't seem to have it right, came home happy with a beautiful day on the water with no fish, (or GPS or speedometer and my Ipod crapped out).

It seems you took on step foward and fell 3 steps back.
you may want to check with lowarance and see if there is a firmware update you could put in your unit.

Engine temp is for water. It is also attached to an alarm in the Lowrance which comes on before the Suzuki temp warning. I believe you can adjust the alarms to activate at different temps so if you wrap your motor in bull kelp and the intake gets blocked you have two warning systems and the Lowrance should let you know before anything gets to hot. The Suzuki runs a 155 deg. for ref. do not know what Yamaha does.
On the GPS, does your unit see the Antennae? I believe you can see this in Network buss setup. about three quarters down the Menu page. John |

Gps
Thanks guys, I don't know if the antenna is being picked up but will be checking within the hour after I finish a few other chores. Firmware doesn't seem avail on the website and response at Lowrance seems iffy, I have emailed twice on different issues and gotten non-informative boiler plate responses with links to try and figure it out myself .

The only way to get an answer from them is to start early and stay on the phone. Make sure you have the firmware number your Lowrance has in it. It is best if your phone will get to the boat then you can get some answers. My last update from them was for the EP-20 and I had to tell them they had it. They e-mailed it to me, I did not hang up until I saw it. The EP-20 is programable depending on the year your engine was produced. It seems most of the EP-20 units have new software in them, for 2008 engines or newer. So the fuel flow information is not accurate on 2007 engines or earlier due to how they calculate is in the computer. With one update everything on mine held hands perfectly.
