cloggs

this has obviosly happened to all of us, 30-60 mi. out and only to look around and see anchovys swimming around on the deck with the hatch on the bait tank bobbing up and down !!! this is not fun. I have done some mods to help eliminate this somewhat.
first, I put a screen over the top drain to keep pin-head chovies from falling in or getting stuck
next, I put a stainless hasp (?) lock on the tank lid to keep bait from overflowing on the deck and into my bilge pump (not fun at all) and to allow sea-water to flow out incase it does overflow.
and lastly, yep, cut out a couple of grates on that darn brass cover!
It is not un-common for us to go 80-90 mi down to the 10/10 trench out of san diego and and this bait tank thing and also the drains on the holds have been our only problems. We really enjoy the Chaos a lot, we own a larger Trophy but it just sits now.

Sounds familiar.
I'm gonna do the grate cutout thing today.
I didn't think about the screen on the top drain. I also have the chovies on the deck problem. Look to see you out on the water some time. Our boat is a 2005 210 Our Reward. ( wife and I lost 100 lbs. together and the boat is our reward) get it.

We love this boat and are heading out for eight straight days of fishing in Ventura, Santa Barbara and Morro Bay. Vacation time is gonna be fun.

bait well draining

i used pvc pipe and elbows to runwater intake up a foot or so then angled it so it would spray around 135-degrees. that way the water want drain without pulling the plug. i also added a automatic timer for the pump to go on and off.
