getting to my question(s)...
if there is a lifetime warranty on the hull and there are all these fix its you guys post is this done as dealer recall or factory reimburses or do you just eat the $$ somebody 'splain it to me so i can get it all done to mine what you have learned the hard way maybe yous can give a list or pointers. thanks
btw i saw a 01 186 on the hudson river the guy pulled the drain plug at the ramp and the water drained and drained had to run down and ask he promptly showed me the crack in the hull said it ws getting fixed in august (factory) he wanted to fish some first... also he wouldnt trade the boat for nothing except another logic/triumph !!!! even with bum wiring leaks etc. sez alot told him about this site

WElllll, you should take any warranty items to your dealer, he will get them fixed, if he can not , he would ship it to a place that can. Yes these boats have thier problems, like most boats......BUT WE STILL LOVE UM. And with this site, you may be able to fix most minor problems yourself. Never hesitate to ask....we are all glad to lend info out to our fellow boaters.

there have been genuine factory warranty issues discussed here and everytime the solution is to start with your dealer and if it cant be handled by him them he should coordinate the factory involvement. there was a time in the past when customer service personel got a little more involved with owner issues than the factory wanted and there was much confusion as to who should do what by whom. imo it hurt the factory relationship with owners and dealers and owners alike and certainaly helped lead to the demise of the old site. that being said the relationships all around seem to have improved considerably . so much so that this year we will have a factory presence for the macfest in july. much of this has to do with this great site and the leadership of randy and the civil way we as owners are interacting with each other and the dealers and the factory. at any given time this site is viewed by more guest(even those who look for people slamming, complaining --displaying their dirty laundy against the boats and gladly use this as a sales tool against potential owners)than owners, so we have to be mindfull of how we interact with everyone.
that being said and i will use myself as an example of how i have benefitted from my fellow owners, a fantastic dealer and even the factory customer guys.
i bought my first boat new in '01, a logic 186 bay and i eventually had to go to the factory to get the dealer to replace the too long shank motor with a jack plate added to it which voided the warranty to begin with. i had to depend on the owners group to help with modifications and improvements. a real nightmare from a dealers perspective and a Godsend from the owners.i was able to sell it and knew the new owner had a better boat than what i started out with.

my current boat is an 01 210cc. in feb '04 i found it sitting on a dealer lot on tires no motor ,trailer, and a foot of snow on the the deck. i could see that this dealer knew what they were doing because i could see 4 improvements we had discussed on the owners site had been done by them. back then the factory had nothing more than rubber stoppers for all the thru the hull floor box drains . these would literally pop out of the hole in the box when the boat was underway and fill all the boxes with water. fix? drill the holes out and put the same screw in drains the factory furnished on the transoms of the 186bay. apparantly it was learned that the inner hull areas where the foam is injected was prone to collect water if screws, accessories were not added on correctly. fix? put a screw in drain plug in the transom to let the water out. early model 210 cc could have a problem with water not draining from the large storage box up front into the bilge but rather into the inner hull. . fix? short piece of pvc pipe ruled in the drain tube to form a sleeve for the water to run in. you are probably thinking why wouldn't these be factory warranty issues. the answer is my boat is a q2 2nd quality boat that doesnt have a warranty. these boats are so easy to work on i can do this stuff myself . because of how tough these boats are and from the feedback i got from fellow owners i felt i would rather take the savings over the cost of a new '04 and add all the improvements and enhancements the factory does each year myself. the savings difference was almost the cost of the motor and i am a poor country boy that had a wife already ****** that at that time i had a 186 sitting in the yard and a 210cc there on a trailer without a motor waiting for the 186 to be sold so it could get a motor.
what else did i do to this 210cc beyond how it can from the factory? here is the short list
put on my prefered custom t-top in lieu of factory top
dual batteries with transfer switch
installed my own cd, vhf, gps and other electronics in the places where other owners said they worked best
put fused distr. board inside lift lid storage for all electrical items not covered on factory switch board
hinged the mega lid like new models
built my own tray in mega floor to keep items from getting wet
put screwin access plates on splashwell plates to ease water removal

there have been many of these improvements used by the factory as the years have gone by and i hope we keep coming up with more improvements and the key word is improvements for our boats . we talk about alot of stuff but the majority of it is how to make our boats better rather than complain about what is wrong. the wrong will be corrected. we are the best r&d group the factory has never had to pay for and i just hope they will keep that in mind
whew! i gotta learn how to be short and to the point!!!!!!!!
any of the above i m p r o v e m e n t s you would like to know more about -- just ask, we will happy to oblige
tight lines
robert

thanks alot guys. i guess what im asking is what 210 mods do the dealers have to make before i bring it home or do you just wait for stuff to break first and is the dealer responseble for all the fixes you guys have painstakingly come up with. thanks again for the great site you all really make it happen.

you will be buying the boat as the factory built it in '03. the dealer nor the factory are obligated to do any changes because this was how the boat came from the factory. the dealer and factory are only going to fix what breaks that is covered by warranty. you can ask/pay the dealer to make modifications like the inner hull drain for you or do them yourself , but the things we have done they do not h a v e to do. the factory has taken some of our ideas and added them on newer models ,but they are not gonna give these to you for your '03 unless you pay extra or negoiate them in you purchase of the boat.
this not the answer you wanted to hear i'm sure ,but this is how i have had to do things since my first one in '01.
heck i love doing all that stuff myself. the more i do the more i learn and the better prepared for the unexpected i'll be whether in the back yard or miles offshore
you got a brand new boat, get out there and enjoy it and tag along with us as we keep making them better

Shrek,
Glad to have you aboard. If you haven't pulled the trigger yet on the purchase agreement with your dealer, you might consider trying to get him to do the mods as part of the purchase. Maybe it's a way to get him to sweeten the deal. Best of luck and see ya' on the water.
