210 CC Eliminate Gasoline Like Smell - thread from old site

Eliminate Gasoline Like Smell

From: codfish (Original Message) Sent: 7/15/2004 9:29 PM
I have a '04 210CC. I have found a strong smell of gasoline, or other similar petroleum product inside my mega storage hatch. This smell is very strong when the hatch cover is first opened. I have tested that air with an industrial air quality sniffer and it consists of extremely high levels of CO, almost normal amounts of O2 and just a hint of an explosive gas. The level of explosive gas is so low it does not register unless you sample right next to the drain hole and then is only goes to a level of 3 with level 10 being the lower limit for safe working environment. Now I know that technical stuff is boring most of you but what I want to know is has anyone else experienced this problem? Could it be a byproduct smell from the curing foam filler material? Or something else that is not flammable or explosive?

Let me know what y'all think. codfish

Roplene by its chemical makeup has a weird smell to begin with. At our Triumph Boat Owner's Tournament, we got some samples of "Bilge Medic", which removes fuel/related odors from enclosed areas. Works like a charm. I am not sure where to get it, but maybe Logic Dave still has the pamphlet or order form, and could let you know.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info. I was just sure it wasn't actually gasoline but it sure was strong smelling. codfish

Hey, I will tell you guys this, Mark does have a good product. That lemon scent cleaner works great and too bad you didn't scoop up them rod handle cleaning deals. Takes squid crap and juice right off. Cleaned up both my foam grips and my cork ones really well.

Iffy on that de-greaser, WD 40 works better for getting off oils and grease I think, but the lemon scent cleaner was superb for the livewell and them stinky fish boxes on the boat. Now we smell "lemony" and all my fish stuff is actually clean for once!!! ha ha ha ha ha.....

It's good stuff, give Mark a shout.
