Need Help intermintent warning beep

Bought a 05 210cc two weeks ago with a 150 mercury. Took it for the first ride the other day. Motor ran great, throttle is a little touchy and the transmission is kinda sticky. But overall we are really happy with our purchase. Problem is when we goosed it and got on plane we kept getting a warning beep. The beep was intermintent not constant, seemed like only when we were powered up. We called the dealer and they said sounds like an electrical problem. Like I said the boat was running great, the motor was peeing good, only a little smoke which is typical of a 2 stroke but that darn beeping has me going crazy. Dont want to have to tow the boat 60 miles to dealer if someone else may know the problem/answer and its an easy one. nay help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

Hey Combat,

I have some experience with Mercury outboards. Your warning beep has to be either overheating or oil injection problem. Your motor should have an oil reserve tank under the cowling. That is to get you home if you run out in the main oil tank. If the problem is not addressed your motor management computer will slow your throttle to idle and not let you rev it past there. I would first check to make sure your oil injection system is air tight. Make sure the tank fill caps are snug and straight on the threads. They can be put on but not sealed. The system requires an air tight seal at each connection to function properly. Your model engine may require a factory tech to cancel the warning beep also. This is a failsafe to make sure your warranty is not voided for lack of maintenance I think.
The tell tail is an indication of water flow to the engine and should mean no overheating problems will occur, but I would check your owners manual just in case the warning is for overheating. One of my Mercurys peed water just fine but had low speed overheat trouble due to a faulty bypass valve in the system.

Hope these ideas help.

I would take it back to the dealer and let him deal with it before something serious may happen!

My merc has the same warning alarm, but only goes off to warn you about over heating. She has gone off twice, both times I was caught up in kelp. Thank goodness fro the alarm, I usually try to keep an eye on the pisser, when going thru kelp...but sometimes I consentrate more on navigation. That alarm saved my behind, but if your goes off for no reason, then YES take it in for a check up.
