Performance

I know this has been done before but....

I was wondering if those are typical performance numbers for the 140?
I have a 2002 Suzuki DF140 with an aluminum 3X14X19 prop which runs 22MPH@4000rpm and tops out at 33MPH@5500rpm. The speeds are from my GPS. When I first got the boat it could hit 39mph but has been losing top end over the past 3 years. I've been tossing around the idea of trying out a new prop with maybe a smaller pitch to get some top end back but I don't want to mess with my cruising speed.

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas

Maybe water in foam area?

Sorry I missed your post earlier. Do you have a foam drain on the transom. Your description sounds like increasing weight (water between hulls) or a fouled bottom (weeds and barnacles). Just a thought.

Wife and I are going down to drill the hole for the foam drain on my 01 - 210. I'm sure I have at least some water in it because I have seen my SS keel where the rule has rubbed away (see Logic forum for more).

Buskshot,

I have similar performance numbers on my 210 w/140 Suzuki. Top speed is 39-40 (GPS), depending on the water and weight. Top RPM is 6200 with a 3x14x17 factory aluminum prop.

I first had the 19P but could not reach top rpm. Replaced it with the 17P and now have better hole shot and about the same top speed since I use all the rpm's now.

What was the highest RPM you could reach with a 19" Pitch. We can't get past 5100 with a 19" Pitch on our 190 Bay.

I have the 3x14x20 SS prop and do not get the top Rpm & hole shot like the smaller pitch prop. The upside is I get alot better fuel mileage at cruise and maintain similar top speed. At 30 MPH I get over 4 MPG while they only got 3.8 mpg.

I pulled the boat out and power washed and scrubed down the hull. Just a trickle of water in the inner hull. Put it back in with a full tank of gas two people i got it up to 34.7mph 5500rpm. I did get the rpms up to 6200-6300 when I trimed up a little to far. Cruising 4000rpms 22mph, look like I let the growth on the hull get a little out of control.
