How to make the console stable for mounting electronics?

Dick, I mounted a Lowrance GPS and a Furuno fish finder in the lockable area of the console on my 210. The plastic "flexes" a good bit there and the Furuno mount actually broke. I received a replacement from Furuno and now I need to either figure out a way to stabilize that mounting area in the console or mount it elsewhere. The FCV600L is a little to snug to put in my overhead lockable storage box, so I need to put it back in the console, unless I mountied it underneath the electronics box. Mounting it there means having to disconnect it and move it for storage at the dock and submits it to the weather too. Do you have a recommendation on a way to stabilize the console mounting area or would you suggest mounting under the electronics box? I know this is somewhat of a question of preference but I'm interested in your opinion. Thanks!

randy
i got a piece of 1/2" starboard from my t-top builder and cut it to the size of the bottom of lockbox. it didnt remove all the vibration but it helped considerably . i think 3/4 inch board would firm up the floor of the storage box enough to do the job.

Thanks GGC. I need to do something to firm it up. That Furuno plastic mounting plate cost $50+ to replace! Have a great Thanksgiving.

Console stability

Every place I used a screw and nut to mount my electronics I backed it up with a fender washer beneath console shelf. I don't have any problems yet.

Randy, Those guy's are correct, backing the bottom of the box will help to minimise vibrations. We stock Starboard. Give me a call.
