I kind of remember going up 2" and over 1", I also remember drilling in quite a ways, maybe 5 or 6", I have a nice pocket in there for water to collect, mine drips pretty much every time I remove the plug, and after I use it each time I get a couple quick ounces that come right out and then just drip, drip, drip. seems to be fine though. It's weird, I seemed to get same amount of water out of plug after boat was in water for a week as I do when boat is in for just a few hours?

Inner hull drain

I see a lot of comments on this problem mainly the 210 boat. Does this problem also occur on the 190 Bay?Mine has from the factory two drain plugs in the lower part of the transom which i always open after ride. I ask what is Triumph doing for correcting this problem in the new models? I think the factory should have a section in its site for commentaries and guide to its boat client owners. That would be a good and needed service.I once sent a mail to the factory giving good comments on my boat and asking a couple of questions and never got a reply. Triumph should rethink about having a good customer service, it would help a lot and enhance customers and fidelity.Cesar Catani

Bay 190's need an inner hull drain. It would be placed between the bilge plugs you remove presently but a tad bit lower to the bottom of the hull. Buy your drain plug assembly @$4, use a paddle drill bit for the correct insertion size of the drain plug assembly and into the foam a few inches (a water collection pocket) and let any water drain out. It may drain days or a few weeks but as long as there is a drip, the Rule Elastomeric you would seal the new drain assembly in with will not seal/bond correctly....needs to be dry and set for at least 3 days in my experience. If you don't have so much down time, just wait till winter and do it then when you won't be in the water as much. Welcome to Triumph Owners.org and if you have any other Bay190 specific questions, post them in the Bay 190 section and we will all be happy to lend a hand. Emery

Thanks Molar for yur reply, but still my question to you all: What is Triumph factory doing to correct or eliminate this problem? or are they just sitting and waiting for boat owners to call them. If so ,thats not a correct niether a proactive attitude towards its customers. At least they should release an instruction bulletin, or indicate all its distributors about the problems and what to do. After all it is not a candy bar what we have purchased. Dont misunderstand me ,I love my 2002 190Bay ,its an excellent boat with minor defects ,whenever I can I praise Triumph and Roplene,it is a great technology and a rigth one. But the factory should care for its customers in its bussiness, otherwise they'll end up losing them.Cesar Catani

In all honesty I am not sure its a general problem. It certianly is if you have a leak someplace, but for the vast majority of us it really is a non issue. I put the drain in my 170 CC, but all I get are a few drips. It could not be more than a 2 cups for the entire season. Do not forget if you punch a screw into the inner hull to attach anything (or run the through bolts for the motor) you can start getting an air exchange in the inner hull. As soon as you have some degree of air exchange you get condensation. The drain just gives me a level of commfort. It is not need to solve a problem.

On our 2006 190 Bay there are two drains on the bottom of the transom.

on the earlier 210cc models there were manufacturing issues that were corrected in later models ,but left the earlier models with the possibility of water intrusion into the inner hull. these drains are a way of knowing if you have water intrusion. a faulty gasket on the drain plug can contribute to intrusion w/o any "problems" with the boat ,so it is a trade off.
the important thing to consider for those of us that get alot of water when the drill goes in, is to find the source of the intrusion and stop it.
new boats out of the mold are like thermos bottles --totally sealed-- every screw, thruhull, fitting, accessory ,ect creates an entry point for water.
the issue is not having to put a hull drain on your boat, but rather keeping water from getting there in the first place.
check out the logic forum for known sources of water intrusion on the earlier boats and some may even apply to your model.
if i can be any assistance ,just give a shout out
Robert

Inner Hull Drain

I am not sure if I have an inner hull water problem but I may have because water can intrude thru the gunwale rod holders as well as other places. I assume the drain is a 1" drain, similar to the same size hole that is in the bilge.
