you have hit on a design misque that is commom throughout the model years. my '01 also is higher at the hinge connect point on the deck than the lids. have seen hinges that have an offset that i think would get the lid down but i havent tried it yet. hopefully dick at mm will see this post and reply as to how thick the plastic is in the deck area of the hinge attachment and if we can grind down the deck at the hinge area to get the hinges more flush with the lids w/o losing too much plastic for hinge attachment.
jury is still out for me as to which way i want to go on this one

I drilled a hole in the hull of a 210 in two places, one at the fwd. port hatch hinge and one at the rear port hatch hinge, both were 1/4" thick. If the hinge needs to be lower, a shim made from a milk jug can be put under the hinge on the hatch side. Easy to cut and its close to the hull color and a lot easier than grinding the hull.

Finally a fix from triumph fish box drains....

My triumph dealer in San Diego has just modified my boat's floor compartment drains. The technican just completed a class back at the factory to add drains from the front boxes to the rear boxes, and larger drains in the rears. They also added the new style pull-out inserts in all 4 compartments. This is a factory fix. I have not been out in the ocean yet to try it out, but it drains ok in the driveway. I will update this post later.

fishbox drains

Drains into bilge, however the inserts do not have a drain. They lift out

Hey Diehard,

Any chance you could post some photos of the mods done by your dealer? The inserts sound interesting also.

diehard - Can you elaborate a little bit? What do you mean a factory fix? Is this something they are fixing as part of warranty or is it something that is going to cost money. If it costs, how much was it?

YES! Factory auth repairs

I called triumph to voice my displeasure with the continuing problem of the floor boxes filling up with water & not draining, and 2 days later my local dealer called me to tell me Triumph is training his technican at the factory to fix this problem. My boat is a 2004 and is out of warranty. The rework was completely covered under warranty.

I will try and post photos soon.

I think this was discussed elsewhere on this site. This is not a warranty fix, it's a modification . If I remember correctly, there was some other reason that the factory decided to cover the cost of the mod on this boat. I just don't want 210/215 owners to think that this is a warranty issue.

Warranty??? Yes

AA Marine told me it WAS a Warranty Issue, and that Triumph was covering the cost of the modification. They also supplied the Parts Kit.
If it sounds like warranty, tastes like warranty then it must be .........
