The simple point to keep in mind here is: don't do anything to your boat yourself that will affect your lifetime hull warranty. How will you know what affects the warranty? Get it in writing from your dealer and if you don't have a dealer find one or contact Triumph directly. A little research and less assumptions may pay off in the long run.
I will be picking up a 2006 Chaos in a few weeks and I will make it a point to find out from my dealer what I can and cannot do to the boat that may affect the hull warranty. Before I do any modifications myself I'll send an email to my dealer and ask. Seems simple to me. I would never think of taking what someone online says about a conversation they had with someone else, as an authoritative answer on a warranty issue. I would want it in writing from the dealer or from Triumph. But that's just me.
BTW Triumph to my knowledge has no staff members actively involved on this site posting information about warranties, so don't assume that you heard from Triumph unless you talked to them directly. And if you're talking with one of their dealers, request it in writing. Also no one has said "don't fix things yourself". It is your boat and you choose what to do to it. Just make sure that you know what the requirements are for your lifetime hull warranty to stay in effect before you make a mod.
