Questions about 210 CC
I just purchased a 2005 210CC. With all these talks about drilling into the transom and plugging scuppers, I am getting a little worried. I am wondering what I can do now so that I will not have trouble in the future. Any advice at all on my new boat would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks Frank

Hey Frank
Congratulations on your new boat ! There is no cause for alarm, the modifications we’re doing are completely optional. The transom drain is as needed per boat I put one in just as a precaution. I had a crack once the dealer fixed it but since then I like to be able to drain my inner hull. The fish hold drainage is only an improvement over stock . I personally didn’t like my holds draining into my bilge. If your not going to need to drain chunks or heavy sludge the stock drainage is OK. My 03 always needed some sponging out after a wash down and I kept fish in the ice chest so as not to clog my drain tubes until after I modified the drains. I’m not sure what the 05s holds are like but in my boat the stock below decks was just storage not “fish holds”. These are awesome boats for the money. I’ll be moving to So. Texas eventually and will probably buy a second Triumph for my flats boat a 190 Bay . I am pretty well used to the benefits of plastic. Look around on this site you’ll see way more posts singing Triumph’s praises than complaining. We do use this board to work out the bugs after all nobodies perfect . Good luck good fishing post photos we all love to see them. |

Frank,
As I stated in the “Article” Additions & Modifications to Our New 2005 Triumph 210 , I had the dealer install a stainless steel Center Transom Drain Plug. We open it up after every outing and we have yet to see even one drop of water come out. We wanted it just to be on the safe side, but probably did not need it. My scuppers issue is one that we caused ourselves. We installed the Raymarine high performance transom mount transducer kit. The kit includes the retractable transom mounting kit and utilizes the M256 High Performance Depth transducer. This thing is huge. In order to install it correctly, we had to remove the starboard transom drain ball scupper. If you search my postings, you will find a picture of the transducer. When we put her in the water, we had water just pouring in the back. The folks at Merritt Marine came up with the fix to my problem. Again, we brought this issue on ourselves. The manufacturer did NOT cause my problem.

I love my boat for the money, we all have had some issues and there is some things you should fix or improve on. They may even be done on the new 210,s i don't know. However there is many good things about these boats, I would buy another one.

I have an 03 210 and love it. I have not had any problem with scuppers or any of the other things. except of course the splash well void getting watter in them. NO big deal. I dont think I will put the transome drain in unless I see proformance issuses that make me believe that it is necessary. I see it as just another chance to let watter in.

We have an 03 210 and also have had no problems except for the splash wells and fishbox drains. We also are not going do the transome drain mod. We still get the same top speed as we did when we bought the boat in 2003.

fran
go to the last post i made on the thread concerning inner hull drains currently 2 threads below this topic and i pretty much sum up the issue. if you read the threads on the logic boat forum ,you will see some of the issues the earlier models have had to work thru to get them up to as close as current model specs. these are labors of love and not things we do begrudgingly. the things we have done would be impractical and downright impossible for the majority of us owners to do to a glass boat. so, we are able get current spec boats with our own mods and improvements. any further help or questions-just ask, that's what we are here for. Robert

The one mod I would recommend is the splashwell covers. Put in an access plate in each one to check for water intrusion. Don't think that just because it's new, it won't seep water in. That's what I thought until recently. I have an '04 210 and after the first year, mine had about 3-4 gallons in each side. The transom drain is on my to-do list as soon as I order the garboard drain. I haven't gotten excited about drilling thru-hull drains in the fish boxes. I use a wet-vac after every trip and after cleanup, vac any standing water out. Enjoy your boat.

No worries
We bought our 210 about 3 months ago and have had it out over a dozen times since. The only complaint on ours is the fish boxes dont drain fast enough but I think Triumph has fixed some of the problems on the plumbing. We wash ours down after everyuse and have taken 3 waves over the bow. No major problems with the boat holdong water. I do the shuffle to listen for any sloshing of stored water and nothing yet. I would wait untill you have a problem till you modify something. We have no complaints and by the way weve fished 4 times on the boat now and brought our limit home everytime. Either were lucky or that boat attracts fsih cause man its been awesome. These guys all helped me through the purchase of me and my Dads and we are so thankfull we went with Triumph. With our 21 we were in 6 foot seas last week and she handeld like a champ. I will admit the lifejackets came out and we were a little nervous but she did awesome and now we feel much better about our purchase.
