Rear lid supports

To Putershark,
I saw the rear lid supports you have on your boat. These are just what I have been looking for. Where did you get them. Thanks LSUTIGER.

I got them at West Marine and they (important) were made from Stainless Steel and were the size of the big pencil's we used as kids when we learned how to write. The samller ones did not have a enough stiffness to hold them open if the boat was really rocking.

They worked great though and I am about to mount some on lid of the trolling motor box on my 190. I am tried of it now smashing my fingers every time I go to hook up the battery charger! Ha-Ha...

You will love them though and it is pretty quick install. Just watch the angle of attack on the spring mounting to find the best location. What is that old saying "Measure twice and cut once" Same goes for the install of these.

I just wish I could remember the how long the Stainless Screws were for mounting into the bottom of the deck lid? Oh yea, and remember to drill little pilot holes first before running in the screws. Having a helper to hold up the lid would have been nice. I had to use a stick and remember wishing I had a nother set of hands to help keep everything all lined up.

Hope this helps!
Dave....

How long were the springs you used?

They look good.

You know Recyle,
Off the top of my head I can't remember. I made that upgrade on our old 210 well over a year ago (almost 2 years now) and if I recall they were about 15 inches or so... I think that they were to only ones on the shelf at West Marine at the time.

Drop Tiger and line (or maybe he will see this post) and ask him to measure the ones he just got. Who knows he may still have the sales slip that has the part number on them so you can order them off of the West Marine web page and save yourself some time in getting them.

Sorry, I could not be of any more help...

Dave

Hey Recycle, I got the spring supports at West Marine. They are the "small" size, 8 1/2" Lg., part # 120030 and they were $10.00 ea.
They really do work well. Good luck, GEAUX TIGERS, BEAT IOWA!

Recycle,Tommy Lott and Billy Hendrix spent some time at middle linebacker during 1958 and 1959. Those were the golden years of LSU football. Do you have some past connection to Tiger football?
