You would think that would be a no brainer. My boat is a 2003 with the same setup. If boats were cars there would be a recall. Maybe if enough of us complain there will be something done to correct this problem.

This would be a warranty item. Recalls are for safety related problems.

Jman - Since you just purchased the boat in Nov, why don't you just call the marina/place where you purchase the boat?

To date, this has not been an issue for us at MM. If I'm thinking correctly today, a screen on the pickup would be under the boat. If it did clogg you would have to clean it from the bottom. With as many 210s that are out there, hopefully, some owner will tell their story about this.

I've had to clean out the bait pump/wash down pick up twice over the summer. I have also had dead anchovies clog up the through hull drain. They are small enough to get through the screen in the baitwell. Both are easily cleared if you remove the floor board but are a real pain. I considered adding a Perko brass screen over the pick up but it is in line with my transom mount transducer and I am afraid of loosing signal at speed. For now, I picked up a stainless strainer at Home Depot for less than 3 bucks which seems to do the trick on the drain. I do not have any ideas to resolve the pick up fouling issue. Any ideas out there?

For what it's worth, my 03 is set up the same way. I often wonder why. I may use the stainless steel strainer idea. Thanks for the idea.

Bait well

I solved the problem for my boat anyway, I run .5 lpm of pure oxygen in the bait well. The bait act like they are on steroids and I use a aquarium bubbler pipe with removable zeolite cartridge to remove the urine. Works great for me!

Boomer

Are you saying that you do not pump in water but use the same water plus bubbles, oxygen & filter to keep your bait alive?

On my boat I had the drain on the bottom of the hull, the brass cover had slits, I had them removed, in the event that a bait fish goes down the drain, it will not get stuck and rot.
