Unhappy No Sales to Australia

I have been informed by my local Triumph dealer in Australia that the factory is refusing to sell the 235 model to Australia for the foreseeable future and that they may look to export sales in the 2009 model year! At best, this would mean the first boat may be available here in late 2008 or early 2009.
As a prospective purchaser of the 235 I am both baffled and extremely dissapointed by the factory attitude to export sales. I have not seen anything on the website or in the printed brochures stating that the 235 is only for sale in the domestic US market. Must be very annoying for the dealers down under in OZ to have to tell an interested customer such as myself that as much as they would like to - they cannot sell me one!
Is Australia being singled out here or does this policy apply to all export sales?

OZ,
Go to the Triumph website and e-mail the customer service rep. They can give you an exact answer. It's possible you could order from a dealer in USA and they could handle shipping???
Good Luck
John D.

I contacted Triumph about your post and received this reply:
Quote:
"Our new 235CC is proving to be very popular and all production slots have been filled through March with domestic orders. We will review international sales of the 235 again in the March / April timeframe. We would rather under promise and over deliver. We believe initial
shipments of the 235 to international markets will continue to be limited and anyone interested in a 235 is encouraged to place their orders early."

Thanks guys for your interest in my problem.
As you suggested John D, I will email the Triumph customer service rep because if a few more people contact them with their concerns then they might have a re-think on the policy.

NC, the Triumph factory quote is puzzling, notably the sentence: "We believe initial shipments of the 235 to international markets will continue to be limited and anyone interested in a 235 is encouraged to place their orders early." Now the problem with this is that the Triumph factory is refusing to accept any orders on the 235 from my Australian dealer, so it is a bit difficult to place an order "early" as suggested. Of course this makes the first part of their sentence true because "initial shipments of the 235 to international markets will continue to be limited" if the overseas dealers are unable to order a 235 from the factory! If I was able to order and place a deposit on a 235 then I would also expect a delivery date better than late 2008 or early 2009. That's at least a year or more away and I can't wait that long for a boat with no firm idea of when it would arrive.

G'day Aussie61 and I hope you're living well in Louisiana mate! Thanks for the offer of help but at this stage I would be concerned with the lack of warranty and support that would be the natural consequence of doing a self-import. Things are pretty crook if Triumph is forcing us to look at doing our own importing to get one of their great boats mate!

You know, I just want to go boating in a Triumph 235 down under but with all this hassle it might be easier just to buy a different brand of boat.

Unless of course......they have a change of heart and look after their Aussie friends! Here's hoping!
