Anthony, sound's like the passage over to the Bahamas is growing and that's a good thing. Coming from Maryland, most likely I'll have the longest trip down (unless someone is more wacked then me). As soon as you can get some dates together, please share them as I will need a bit of time to plan my trip. I will most likely visit some family while down there so I hope I can store my boat/trailer perhaps at your yard for a few extra days after the trip. Keep us updated, my wife and I are looking forward to this trip. BigGrin

crazy/ but fun

I went last year with the crazy bunch, and yes it is allot of fun. I do recommend bringing foul weather gear or a 24 pack of beer (per person per day). Oh and on a way back water tubing or wake boarding is a good possibility.

I will let you know if I decide to tag along. I have not seen you since I picked up the boat in 2002. Hope everything is going ok down there.

Steve it can get real ruff at times when the winds and the gulf stream are fighting each other. I would not recommend it, but I have heard of it being done. As a matter of fact some of Anthony's coworkers told me stories of people going over in small boats while I was hanging out there waiting to pick up the 210 in 2002. If the weather was to cooperate you could do it, the only problem is out there it can turn bad real quick.

Steve I recieved a call one day from a guy that took his 17 open across (I am still not sure why) and he said as long as you have a good day the smaller boats will do just fine. I would watch the weather closely a couple days out before driving down, though I am sure you could probably hitch a ride with someone.

Speaking of hitching a ride, anyone have an open space on their boat?

How many miles is this trip. Sounds like fun. I'll be coming from Pa if it all comes together.

Hello Anthony,

My wife and I are interested in the Bahama trip. I've been doing some checking re trip and it seems that a Bahama cruising permit is required at $100 or $150 depending on which web site you check. Also the dockage at Port Lucaya is listed at $1.70 per foot with a 30' min.

What can you tell me about the permit etc. Also what is needed to return to the US?

We are in Port Charlotte FL. and would probably bring another couple on the trip.

Thanks, Al

Trip to Bahamas, Apr 29-May 2

Hello- After a lot of discussion, we are planning for a trip on April 29, coming back on May 2nd.

We would leave out of the Palm Beach Inlet and cross to Port Lucaya, about 80 miles. We will more than likely go to West End first, clear customs, then take protected waters through the grand Lucayan waterway to Port Lucaya. This way we will be in the opn water for only about 50 miles.

You'll need a passport, or a drivers license and birth certificate. The islands do charge a $150 cruising permit per boat that is good for 60 days.

We will stay at the Port Lucaya Resort and marina. Rooms should be $80/night and dockage is relatively inexpensive. Our thought is to use Port Lucaya as a base and take a couple of day trips to out islands.

Anyone who gets sea sick -remember the dramamine. Have a first aid kit handy. We always have an epirb handy. We'll have GPS chart plotters on our boats, and may have a big boat escort (40')

I am trying to work out enough space for parking the cars and trailers at one of our lots here in Riviera Beach.

Sometimes it does get rough, but unless it is dangerous, we'll still go. These boats can take more than we can.

Please e-mail me at boatpbc@hotmail.com or to Jeff Gross at stgerard1@aol.com if you are interested.

Anthony
