Triumph Trip to the Bahamas late April, Early May

Hello,
Boathouse and Jeff Gross (FL Triumph rep) are planning another crossing to the Bahamas in late April or early May. We went last year in a 210 and a Windsor Craft.

We would like to open it up to any Triumph owner who would like to go. We will travel across in a group to Port Lucaya, stay for the weekend, and come back.

Last year's trip took us 5.5 hours over but only 4 hours back. You'll need birth certificate with drivers license or a passport to clear customs.

If you're interested, email Jeff at stgerard1@aol.com or myself at boatpbc@hotmail.com and we will include you in the plans.

It will be an adventure and a good time for all.

Thanks,
Anthony

Anthony, This sounds like an interesting passage. Can you give a few details about this trip. Where do you begin the voyage? How fast do you cruise and is fuel a concern? Do you have a provision for weather problems? Is this the best time to cross the stream weather wise? Where do you stay in the islands? I live in Maryland (could trailer my 210 down), but a journey like this has tweaked my interest. How about a bit more info for the group.... Thanks for the posting. BigGrin

Bahamas trip

We would leave out the Palm Beach Inlet. We are a dealer here in Riviera Beach, right near the intracoastal. Depending on how many boats we get, we can leave the trailers in our yard.

I took the 210 w/ a 150 Yamaha 4-stroke last year, and could have made it there and back without re-fueling. We averaged about 20 mph over ground. There's easy fuel as soon as we get to Lucaya.

We would stay at the Port Lucaya marina & resort. Rooms are $80-$100 per nite, plus dockage, which is inexpensive.

The gulfstream calms down in April, and thru the summer. We are just starting the planning, and don't have a weather contingency.

Thanks for the interest, and hope more people are looking forward to the trip as well.

Anthony

Anthony, please keep me in the loop. I for one would vote for perhaps 3 or 4 days on the island if possible but would only travel with the group.... So whatever the plan, I'll follow it. I have always wanted to do this trip but in a 21 footer, would only consider with a group of experienced skippers. Pending the dates working out, I am very interested.

Anthony:

I too would be interested. Will have to trailer from Pensacola. Good excuse for me to get a new tow vehicle! Keep us posted as details are worked out.

Anthony and Jeff are two "WILD AND CRAZY GUYS" The trip sounds like great fun. Am I going, **** no! I just love the stories. It will start out like this "The Triumph armada left port, bound for distant shores, Oh, their comming back , Jeff left the Beer--------"

I'm in with my 210CC. Will definitely have to get some fishing time in over there.

Count me in, too! I've been looking for something like this. I was thinking about taking my 210 to and through the Keys from Tampa, but that would take a long time and a lot of gas money. The Bahamas would be just as exciting but shorter and cheaper.
