I remember the ad that caught my eye in 2002 that sold me on a Triumph Bay 190. First, it had a Suzuki outboard, second, it had a list a mile long of standard features, third, it had a good casting deck, fourth it was cheaper than any other boat in that category (with a lifetime warranty) but included all the bells and whistles that I was looking for...and last there were a couple dealers in ALABAMA!
Shark ad is OK but prefer one with a boat spec'd for shallow water fly fishing or one top'd off with T-top, leaning post and catching a little air going out an inlet for some deep water action. Even one with all the fishing gear and the "family" packed in all smiling, it really helps when we want a new boat and can show the wife that it's not "just" a fishing boat, it is a "family" boat, haha. Wouldn't hurt to get one of those fishing shows on OLN or OUTDOOR CH to be sponsored by Triumph boats or at least get the owners together and let us brag about our boats in a sponsored tourney or something. Just thinking out loud. Molar |

One of the greatest tag lines I have heard for these boats came from the old Triumph site that was started by Dave. The tag was "Fantastic Plastic", I am sure that everyone who owns one would agree these boats are fantastic.
I have not seen either of the ads you are referring to but then again South Louisiana doesn't currently have a Triumph dealer, hence there is very little voice. I would have to agree with Molar however that the long list of standard items is a great. I also agree that having some coverage during sponsored would be a fantastic way to illustrate these great boats. |

I just saw the 3 pig ad and I have to agree with Dick at Merritt that it just doesn't work. Osprey Vic also made a good comment about the ad agency folks looking over this site for the reasons that we own these boats. He//- a lot of us would probably be willing to be featured in an ad.

Three little pigs...Right!
I didn't see it and I'm glad I didn't Fire the advertising department.
Get some more pictures of the boats being droped from the chopper and survivng, then drop a competetiors boat and see how it fares. Can you spell splinters? Do some real time stuff with real owners at sea, catch some fish, race a few other boats back to the dock. We buy these boats for fun stuff so show some fun (fin) stuff already. Come up to Northern California and cross the Humboldt bay bar with some winter time sport crabbers when it's snotted up...We're talking real time survivability boat issues here. Or how about some of the rough spots off of Cape Hatteras, I understand there are some serious rough spots there that will soil your undies. Do a spot where a burly fisherman type whacks the carp out of a Triunph with a bat then caves in the side of a fiberglass rig with the same bat. He won't have to say a word, just look at the hole in the glass boat and give the camera a big S.E.G. with the words on the bottom of the screen "Safety? You decide". No and please don't pick a "Larry the cable guy type" as not all fishermen are like that. What sold me when I was boat shopping last year was the film clip of the hull survivng the drop from the chopper, all the other stuff I'd researched about the boat pretty much had me convinced but that clinched it. You advertise the boats are tough, then show it. I'm not going to run into the big bad wolf out there (Well maybe a Sea wolf). But I can run into logs, lumber, whales, bouys, bars, reefs, beaches, docks and inumerable other seagoing hazards that I hope my Triumph will survive. But not the three little piggys. Please. I'll quit huffing and puffing now.

put her there---on a dock that is ---pal!!!
In the '01 logic catalog there were still shots of a 17' open hull being dropped by a helicopter only to pop up like a cork. that and the factory video of the 210cc 'celcerating up onto a dock is what got my attention. that kind of advertising is what helped me realize that these were tough, forgiving boats that could take the abuse novice owners or those of us that just have hard luck and are capable of tearing up anvils could throw at them!!!!!!
that toughness and yep i'd love nothing better to be filmed walking around my local Fountain dealer with a ball bat begging them to let me get 1 good swing at one of theirs for 5,10,please, please, please,15 swings at my 210cc. here's your sign---- mr. advertising agency GGC

haven't seen the ads myself. but I'd recommend "On The Water" magazine here in New England. Its great and a lot of serious fisherman and boaters read it. also have a good website onthewater.com I believe and a TV show that airs a couple times a week up here in New England on Fox Sports network. TV show is full of boat ads, would love to see a Triumph one. maybe do an ad with a bunch of quotes from us owners and some pics as well, I'm sure we'd be happy to send some photos with our boats and fish etc...

How about that old Timex commercial, "Takes a licking and keeps on ticking".
Well, start off with a watch taped to the hull of a Triumph and one taped to the hull of a fiberglass boat as if it is going to be a rehash of the Timex classic, then beat the heck out of the watch with a bat or ram the boats into a pier docking maybe with the family watching in horror. Well, the watch didn't do too well but hey, look at that Triumph's hull, not a scratch! You know what happened to the "other" boats' hull during the same "test". Then show it during the SuperBowl, that's within Genmar's budget isn't it?haha |
