170 CC 2002 Black dots as well

Have learned to live with black pepper spots until I read the posting today. Able to remove some with Dawn, wash mitt and rinse hose but never complete. Will try the pressure washer.

I have a 4.5 hp Troy Bilt pressure washer with 2200psi I bought at Lowe's. It has the turbo nozzle attachment, and it knocks them black dots out.

The black spots we are talking about in this thread are the tiny ones that appear in large numbers, mostly on flat surfaces.

I have the same problem, bought an 05 210 CC that sat at the dealership for a year creating those blackish grey areas on the surface of the Roplene. I wouldn't want any other kind of hull as I tend to fish in extreme conditions and mostly alone. The hull gives me some comfort that way. I have been working on the worst areas with soft scrub, but am now anxious to try the pressure washer fix.

o yes. I just borrowed my sons 2600 lb pressure washer. My 1200 did not dent the spots
buffering after green stuff, and polish compound did not work either. Sure beats time wasted waxing jel coat .

Pressure washings the trick! I had picked up a cheap pressure washer this spring and used it a couple of weeks ago on the boat. Has a serious black dot problem when I got the boat new after sitting on a lot for a winter and it was only getting worse after 2 years. I was astounded by the great job the washer did in cleaning up the dots. Never able to touch them with any sort of cleaner. Only caveat. Keep the nozzle really close. Nothing happened until I got within 3 inches of the surface. I was only able to clean ~ 3" inches at a time but it did the trick. Now that its done its probably only a once a year thing to keep the dots under control.

boat cleaning

I was just down at the marina, you know tinkering around with my 01 logic 210, one of the fellows was cleaning his boat fenders with MEK, it worked great and took only a little time. I put a small amount on a rag and went over some real dirty spots above the rub rail and it did a terrific job. It has to be used in a well ventilated area. I was wondering if anyone has used MEK ? I only did a small spot and then hosed it off with fresh water.. It also took out those black dots everyone talks about...

I'm on the west coast. When my boat was delivered it had some diesel fume type greasy smears on the hull even though shrink wrapped. I guess the wrap had become torn. Anyway, my salesman and I were looking the boat over as the yard guy was cleaning it. My salesman told me and the yard guy to use some mechanic's hand cleaner on the greasy smears. Wow does it work! It's the cream you can buy at the automotive stores. JUst wipe it on and wipe it off. Almost no pressure needed!

My salesman said that since I'm going to keep my boat in the water I might as well buy a big can of it and when I haul it out to trailer it, use the cream on the water line to remove the accumulated soot and grease from the marina. Said it works like a dream.

Re the MEK,I used Acetone, o(SIMILAR TO MEK) when putting the boat together to clean off primer, Rule, grease spots, etc. Works great. I also used it to clean the area where I put my registration numbers and boat name. No primer necessary.
