Blizzard of 2006

Two weeks ago the Northeast got slammed with record snowfall. Here in southwest CT (50 miles from NYC), we got about 28". Stranger than even the amount of snowfall was how fast it all melted. All gone within a couple of days.

Pretty to look at, not fun to live with. That's why I moved to FL. Don't miss that white stuff at all except at Christmas time. Its hard to get in the mood with lighted Christmas palms, amd Jimmy Buffet singing carols but we work through it.

I lived in Sarasota for a couple of years and know well the drawbacks of a tropical climate. I think the mid-Atlantic has the best year-round weather.

I moved to Sarasota from Michigan in 1973. Have not been back since.

Now that I am retired, we have no desire to move. After a year or two, I got used to the heat in the summer.

If we did move, it would be further south - not north.

I agree the Carolinas are beautiful. There is however a major draw back for me moving to N.Carolina-that's where my Mother-in-Law lives.
