Winter Storage

Okay - my first post.

Just got my motor winterized and am ready to cover the boat?

What is the best angle to store the boat. If I tilt the boat up, then any water will puddle near the drain plugs. If tilted level, then the water will be evenly distributed.

I've already drained as much out as I can and also thought of pumping a gallon of that -100 RV antifreeze into the hull through the hull plug holes.

Good luck with the site! 8)

I store mine pretty much level. I used a wet/dry vac and my boat is dry as a bone. built a frame over the boat put a huge blue tarp over it and now just waiting for spring

I had my 210 shrink wrapped (barly made it) and storedit a bit bow up with the hull plug out so that any water that may have made it in could find its way out. I had no problems at all this way. I also disconnected the wires from the batteries.

I think I'm gonna tilt her up as well. There's likely only a quart of water in there - and will try to dilute it with some of that RV antifreeze. They are calling for -32 temps in the coming week. :x

I put my trailer on jacks this year to take the pressure off the leaf springs so it is closer to level. Put the big blue tarp over the T-top from motor to bow and bungeed it down. Here in AL, we will not get more that one or two days of freezing temps in a row so I have never antifreezed the motor or disconnected batteries etc before. I am still running the original 3 trolling deep cells but have upgraded to two heavy duty starting batteries this year. Other than running fuel stabilizer, I put a charge on all batteries once per month and crank the motor once on a warmer day.
