are new triumphs free of old problems?

THIS IS A QUOTE FROM ANOTHER TRUIMPH OWNERI think the idea of putting the LIFETIME transferable WARRANTY part into the add is a good idea. With that said I truly feel the "factory" needs to spend some time figuring out a way to address the many issues with their past boats. As most people that own a 2004 or earlier 190/186 would attest these are not the maintenance free boats we thought we were buying. I wouldn't mind a little extra washing if I didn't have to put extra screws and re-caulk my floor boards every year to keep water out of the bilge. It sounds like I own a wooden boat. Not to mention the periodic checking of the tightness of screws throughout the boat. This is a good precaution but for our boats its more of a necessity. Not to mention the hull deflections which the factory says there is no big deal or the self bailing feature which is more of self filling feature. And how about these rod holders that not only hold rods but water as well it shouldn't have been that big a deal to solve this during manufacturing.

Don't get me wrong, I like my boat and am willing to put up with these issues as long as they don't become more serious than they currently are. While I appreciate the fact that I can run my boat into a dock or beat the tar our of it with a bat, I don't really plan on doing either. What sold me was that I got more boat for my money than I did with other manufacturers. I think that if I knew all the issues I would deal with later on I probably would have made a different choice.

So for now I am a content Triumph owner; happy would be a stretch. Those that bought newer models where the factory has solved many of our original problems I am certain you will be delighted. I just wish I were .

Bottom line ad-guys, I wouldn't talk too much about what the factory has done in the past. I feel we have see a very poor response!

The above statement was a quote from another triumph owner on this site. I, Being someone that is interested in purchasing a new triumph, my question is have these old problems been rectified on the new boats or will I as a new owner be looking forward to having to tackle this same problems??

Hi Psychoclown-i Just Bought A 2006 150cc In S. Florida. Although I Am Not New To Boating This Is My First Triumph. I Didnt Buy Because Of The Price Persee, But Rather In My Case I Liked The Lines Of The Boat And The Fact I Can Fit In My Garage. I Am Told, and If You Read All The Comments On This Site, The Newer Models Have Been Greatly Improved. Ive Been Out About Ten Times On The River And Ive Never Taken On Water (not A Drop) Never Had Anything Loosen Up, The Boat Cleans Up Very Nicely, And My Wife Likes It. What More Can A Man Want. Oh, And Ive Never Had The Urge To Hit The Boat With A Bat. Good Luck To You.bill

I'm sure the newer boats are the best so far but elective modifications are possible if needed. Think the scuppers are better but not perfect in every situation but you can always replace screws with longer and fatter ones sealed with Rule anywhere you have a "loose screw". Add an extra screw in between each one on the grey running boards and you'll never have a problem with them....unless you want to remove the boards!
Factory warranty service for me has been beyond imaginable. Door to door service, no cost, no hassle but also no local dealer to go to.
I bought my boat because it was inexpensive and put the money in the motor and accessories. As long as Triumph continues to take care issues that may arise, I couldn't expect more. I pay much more and get less with automobiles.
Glad the weather is improving, about time to test some winter mods!

If you go on the various automobile forums where owners get together and discuss their vehicles, you'll see a lot of discussion around 'problems'. I surfed the F-150, Titan and Silverado forums prior to purchasing my 2004 F-150 and read countless threads about vibrations in the cab, stuck e-brakes, broken control arms, etc, etc, etc. Finally, I decided on the F-150 and couldn't be happier with my choice. Likewise, I love my 2002 Triumph 190. Buy and enjoy!

I see my boat has several minor problems....the key word is minor. For the first time I noticed water in my trolllig pole holder...no big deal...loose screws, floor compartments that never keep out the water from the deck, and warpage on the rear side of the hull. ALL minor issues. The Bigger pros out weigh the minor cons. I hope you stilll get one...they are worth it.

Genelie,
Wouldn't the hull warpage you stated, cause your boat to track badly or list to one side?

I've got a 2005 190 and have more problems with the Honda OB than the boat.

Road holders in the console do hold water, but can be cleaned easily (see threads here). Scuppers will let water in, but only if me and my fat friends are right in front of one hauling in a fat striper!

For the money you can't do better.
