Triumph may be too embarassed to admit that they did the wiring. The wiring on my 190 Bay is right up there with the worst that I have ever seen. It's a real rats next, nothing is supported. Just a disaster waiting to happen. Working inside the consol is a real nightmare. I have replaced the original fuse block, which cracked and fell apart. Most likely because it was originally mounted on a curved surface. I have had wires fall off of the switches as well as the switchs come loose. I believe that this is the weak link for this boat. I have a 190 Bay so I don't know if the rest of the line is this bad. I would guess that it most likely is. Look at the wiring in a Grady White or Whaler, there is no comparsion. Sometimes, I guess you get what you pay for.

I agree Plenty of problems with my 191 04 It's permanently parked Out of service in back yard. Tried to upgrade my 2001 186 logic GREAT RUNNING BOAT. Add TRIM and VOLTMETER. 3 days later it all works removed at least 15 ft excess cable & wires. What is a Clamp?? wire tie?? ect?? . If they know They ain't Telling or using any. Used plenty making it neat. Wires, Cables all but 2 were run unsupported in bilge drains.

I replaced my fuse block this winter with the "BlueSeas" large model and just ran power up to my ebox to a small "BlueSeas". When looking for better fuse boxes, I was amazed at how common and cheap the factory boxes are, not just a Triumph thing at all.

Anyway, that is an easy upgrade. Running the 16ga wire up thru the t-top was a real PITA! Learned alot this weekend, like, 3/16" steel cable makes a good "snake".

Does anyone know where the main "Wire Feed" is on the 17 CC ? I am trying to install Depth Finder and cannot find wire tube that goes to console. I read somewhere that there is a wire tube with a return string in it. Is the tube near the battery box or where the engine wires come into boat

Tks

MyHalf,
Remove the access plate over the gas tank (just in front of the engine). It should be on the starbord side and a little forward. If you don't see it right away, look around a little, it should be fairly visible. I hope this helps.

My Half. I've got a 190 Bay, so my setup might be a bit different, but look for a pvc type tube that runs from inside the center console, aft, and beside the wiring harness. Mine ends up beneath the starboard rear seat in the storage compartment where the oil reservoir for my 2 stroke engine is located.Yours could end up in a different place. It came threaded with a string that I used to pull my transducer cable through. If yours has no string do not fear as it is easy to run a snake through in order to use to pull your cable through. In fact, I routed replacement throttle/shift cable through it also since they kept binding up when I tried to use the old ones to pull the new ones where they ran beside the wiring harness beneatht he deck.

I have a 170 Bass and have added an onboard charger, bow sonar, a new rear sonar with a speed sensor, and dual trolling batteries. I pulled all the wiring using an electrical fish tape I bought at Home Depot for use around the house. My boat has the wiring tubes but the original wiring is a rats nest. I have a lot of unconnected wires in the harness that just add to the clutter, but there is no diagram, so I have not tried to get rid of them.

When I removed the original sonar unit that came with the boat it had one terminal wired to my nav light switch. It was so hard reaching up under the console to get to that switch that I just wired straight to my trolling batteries. I cut off a lot of zip ties on the harness to get the sonar in, but I put most of them back with new ties.

Triumph should be ashamed of their wiring jobs.
