Polyethylene Powder ??

How does one apply the plastic powder? I was given a zip lock bag of the stuff. Something was said about heating it in a non stick pan then puddy knife it into a hole or scratch.
Anyone know about this? How hot? How hard to work with?
Be advised I have uglyed up more stuff messing with fiberglass than I have fixed!

They have a, or did have a cd, that showed how to use the power. I have a copy. It only shows doing screw holes that are striped out. Heat the screw till red hot put it in powder then insert in screw hole when all the way in, Do a quater turn right. The rods they and others sell are melted in to fill holes with heat guns or iron type devices. See search for leads to other sites. that sell the eqpt. .

Perdido,

I have not performed this repair myself but have seen a demo video that shows it to be rather easy. Heat the powder in a non-stick pan. Just hot enough to melt the powder and make it gooey like molasses. Use a flexible putty knife to spread over hole or area to be repaired.

It is best to rough up the area first so roplene sticks better. You must work quickly as the roplene cools fast and will harden, making the bond with the old surface less durable.

Rough sand, then finish sand and complete with a light buffing. I would not use this method in an area requiring high strength repair. For that, the plastic welding, discussed in several threads, should be used.

Hope this helps. Codfish
