Long Island sound is also a good place to go and may be closer for some people. It dosn't matter to me.

TBOT New England

Ok, maybe I should rename it TBOT New England, and maybe you boys down in the Tri-State area should have a Tri-State area one. I am just not at all familiar with the LI sound and it is farther for me, although not that much. If someone familiar with that area could put together some info I'd be up for listening. So far it seems like more people on this site are into that area. I for one love the Cape!

Based on the replies, it looks like the following will do Falmouth, MA:
Fishahn
Fischer53
GreenpondEd
OuttaHear
Cincinnati

That's enough to get a good tourney IMHO. Now I know that OuttaHear, Fischer53 and myself (Cincinnati) are in Western CT, and maybe we can put on another tourney later. But I do still want to do the MA tourney to break the ice.

Yea shrek I'm sure we could work it out, you should be able to tow from Scotia, NY no problem though, the more boats the merrier! but you could hop on mine if I've got space. still trying to work it all out myself.

I just heard from Fishahn. I support the weekend after Memorial Day. It would be less of a zoo and the fishing should be prime for stripers and big blues. I am psyched.

Greenpod - since you're from the area, would you be willing to put together a summary of the fishing tactics/gear most use in the Cape. Unless it is no different than the LI Sound, I want to ensure that I have the right gear and do enough thinking about the type of fishing up there before the trip.

I've never been up there. But here, I normally drift 30' deep reefs with tubes or eels - or use artificial in the shallows along the surf and rocks - for stripers.

Hi Cinnci,

I espect that what you use at LI sound would work well. That being said I have never fished tubes and eels this early in the season. I would wait until late june/july, but I am sure they would work. With the larger stripers and blues heading north in early june, just about anything would work. At the Middle Ground shoal off Tashmoo on the vineyard, stripers and blues are chasing squid thru the rips. I would suggest almost any popper, Polaris Pencil popper is a killer. Otherwise sluggos, plastic shad, yozuri crystal minnows are good. I also flyfish, so anything like a clouser or deceiver is deadly. At this time of year you can throw just about anything at them.
