Roplene Powder........we already own lots of it
I am fairly new here on this forum but I got to thinking about the posts I had read concerning the inavailability of powdered Roplene for renewing the bond around screw threads...........
Seems to me.......that polyproplene is a thermoplastic. Sand it, file it, abrade it somehow and you've got poly (roplene) dust/powder.....whatever you need. There are dozens, if not hundreds of readily obtainable sources of excess or not-structurally necessary sources of chunks of this stuff on our boats........ Wayne at Hooked on the Bay here in North East MD agreed that this was a good source.....nobody needs to sell it/ buy it. |

I have plenty of it
You are correct- I have a quart zip-lock baggie stuffed full of curly-Q strips of ropelene. I mounted my trolling motor, ski pylon, all the rod holders, depth finder, etc. and saved all the drill bit cuttings. I have only had to fix 2 or 3 screw holes so far but I doubt I will ever need to buy any ropelene powder.
