I bought the 170DC with a 60hp Yamaha 4 stroke in April and have had it out, on average, a couple of times a week during the summer and once a week since September. Mostly I just fish but have pulled a tube a couple of times. I had to fill the gas tank last week; this is my third tank of gas. For my money, the 60hp gives me the best weight to hp ratio.

Thanks Deer Hunter, but I would like to hear from someone with a 50 hp, before I lay out the bucks for a tube.

Ive got the 17CC with a 60 hp Yamaha Four and have had no problem whatsoever getting it up on plane and quickly. But my dealer had preinstalled a hydrofoil on the motor's cavitation plate because he was aware that planing might be a tad slow otherwise. I didnt pay anything extra for it, at least not itemized, so I doubt its a very costly add-on.

In terms of 15cc vs 17cc, it might depend on storage considerations, particularly if you have a garage. My 17cc fits comfortably in my garage--21.5 feet long by 18.5 wide at a slight angle. Theres plenty of room to walk behind it when I angle it into a corner.
