Lightbulb 15CC Vs. 17CC Concerns-Which is right

I have narrowed it down to these two boats. I have not gotten a chance to take a ride on either one. My plans are this, 75% of the time fishing, 25% of the time pulling a tube. My fishing will consist of lakes, rivers and bays (Chesapeake bay). I also do a fair amount of inshore fishing at the Outer Banks. Am I making a mistake by going with the 15CC? My fishing most of the time is 2 adults, sometimes with a 12yo thrown in. My biggest concern with the 15CC is the problems with getting the boat up on plane I have read about in older threads

I would go for the 17CC if it were me (and I could afford it) and I'd put the largest 4-stroke back there that you can. You'll enjoy the extra space on board for both fishing and tubing and the extra horsepower would be great too.

I Have The 150cc And I Get Right Up On Plane In About 3 Seconds When Im By Myself. Fishing With Three Men With Gear Is Tight, very Tight. I Looked At The 17 And The Two Feet Behind The Captaqins Seat Did Not,in My View, Justify The 2,000 Plus Dollars. I Also Put My Boat In The Garage. I Dont Regret My Decision. I Stay In The Rivers And Bays Here In So Florida.hope This Helps.

Good points Cape Codder. That's why it pays to get lots of input.

I own the 150 CC, it's a great rig and it serves me well but IF I had it to do all over again I'd have gotten the 170-CC. I've fished the 170 and that room behind the seat makes a big difference. Get the 170

feejer,
I have the 170CC with the 60HP 4 stroke. Like NC Angler said. Go with the 170 CC with a 75HP 4 Stroke. motor. You will not regret it. The only thing I would change would br the max. HP engine. The 60hp I have is OK for my needs. If I did any tubing or fished wth 3 people the 75hp would be a must.

I have a 17cc with a 75 etech which is lots of power. I can fish 3-4 people no problem. The room behind the seat is great. Just move the back foward and there is lots of room for two to fish. I can plane in just about 2-3 seconds. The etech is great out of the hole and will beat any 4 stroke, and it's also good on fuel and oil

Ihav ethe 17CC and find it too tight to fish comfortably with 3 on board. I imagine the 15 would be impossible. Go with the 17CC if you can afford it.
