I would bet you already have a tv bigger than 20"....you may WANT the 50" flat screen plasma...I do too, but the radar can save your life. So, my next purchase is a Garmin 40 digital radar and will buy the plasma tv next year when it costs 50% less than the year before...thanks China!

Question, have you bought an GPS/EPIRB yet? I put that before radar but I do very little fog/night boating.

Thanks to all for your comments, all are good suggestions, but still a tuff decision..........Yes I currently have a 32" flat screen, so yes waiting still is a good option, espeacially if the prices for a 50" drop. And Yes I have a GPS that and the radio was the first thing I put on the boat, prior to leaving the safe harbor. PUTERSHARK you mentioned that you can see a flock of birds on a radar dropping on bait???? is there truth to that?? I would really like to see how you would notice that on a radar.

Yes you can with color radar screens and the correct gain settings.
