http://www.thehulltruth.com/forums/t...ts=89#M1343145 It made me feel better anyway... ;-) I am pretty much done with it also... I own a Triumph and am proud of it. I love my boat and would not trade her for anything... except a 34' Yellowfin with trip 275 Verados... but then I would be getting home equity loans to fill the tank. |

One of the members of http://www.polyboatowners.com/ had the following post. I am not a chemist or an engineer, but I truly believe that our 210 will outlive both my son and me. I must admit that the looks of the Polycraft 4.55 Cuddy Cabin is intriguing. Also looks like some of the Poly Boat Owners like the looks of our Triumphs.
I just wanted to share the post we found. RandallG Posted: Mon Jan 08, 2007 1:31 pm I`d like to have a chat to this ex-poly factory worker. I work in the chemical industry and can confirm that P/E is chemically compatible to a wide range of nasty brews. I have been using Polyethylene Tanks to store a range of chemicals, out in the full sun in Qld (Queensland) for 15 yrs and these poly tanks are as good as the day they were installed. Truth be known, polyethylene will be around in 500 years. It does not degrade. I will even go so far as to state that if I chose to keep my little challenger for 50 yrs, it will be as good as the day it was cooked and popped out of the mould. Thank heavens it is recylable!!!! Randall.

EXACTLY!!! That is what ticked me off the most.. I recognized some of those pics and he is saving them and re posting them on his MSN site and labeling them with derogatory titles… then linking to them and saying Triumph sucks. I think most of the THT members are realizing he is not being honest.

You could always file a complaint with MSN.
I get the impression that even the THT'ers are starting to roll thier eyes and are gettig tired of his rants and raves. Kinda like when you over planted zucchini and about three weeks into the harvest season you can step out on your front porch and just whisper "Zucchini" and you'll hear doors slam for three blocks in any direction. |

My last fiberglass boat had a crack in the hull. It was a Chaparell. Boats get wet, water gets in them and hulls take stress and can eventually fail. It is universal.
I just know, if my hull failes 40 miles out in the Gulf, my boat will get me home. Most importantly, it will get my family home. I worry more about loss of battery power or a engine malfunction than if my hull will be usable in 30 years. Actually, I have a 31.5 year old plastic boat that has spent 31 years in the elements and survived hurricaine Frederick in 1979 in Orange Beach. It is a sailboat and will be my daughters in a few years. It is a paper thin plastic shell made by DuPont called "Cordura" over a styrofoam hull. I notice alot of "Edited" posts on THT Triumph thread....that is the first sign of a thread lacking in fact and more of a "rant". I edit alot, it has to due with spelling and grammar. |

The members of polyboatowners.com are constantly having this exact same problem! In Australia we have had detractors appear on every fishing and boating forum (many times it is the same individuals) and it burns to think that people who have a mistaken perception about plastic hulls may affect purchasing decisions of complete strangers. Perhaps this is the entire point? I have yet to find a plastic boat owner who dislikes his boat. No boat is perfect, but all plastic owners can vouch for the material. The same plastic has been used in rainwater tanks for decades ... I have a 12 year old tank that looks exactly the same as when I bought it. The main manufacturer of plastic boats in Australia is now having trouble keeping up with demand ... and with Triumph boats now being imported, the market is starting to accept that there is an alternative material that will prove better in the long run.
