No dealers in Ontario?

Hi, all. New here, and no, I'm still looking to replace a 22-year-old little Bayliner bowrider.

What caught my eye this weekend was a 150 DC at a dealer I've bought from over the years (including my Honda 50hp). I'd never heard of Triumph, but it looked like a boat that fit my pocketbook, garage, and even the trailer I have now.

But, I got curious about a couple of comments he made, so I decided to find out from Triumph a few other dealers' names in my area.

Imagine my surprise when a customer service person at Triumph told me that they have no dealers here at the present time! This means that should the boat require warrantee service, it would have to be shipped to a US dealer, or to the plant. Yikes!

What the heck happened? Does anyone know why this is?

I don't have a dealer for @700 mile round trip and I have owned a Triumph since 2002. If you are concered about the distance, might want to keep buying what your dealer is dealing. Why did he have a 150DC?

Well, the distance is one thing, but warrantee service only in another country? However, since I posted that, I found another dealer not too far away that has a 170 CC in stock. I didn't bring up the subject with him, but I am going to check again with Triumph.

The first dealer was confirmed by Triumph to have been a dealer. Past tense. I don't know, it all seems a bit funny, the plant saying nobody's a dealer, and yet finding two that appear to be. Maybe I'm concerned over nothing.

Aage

Did you ever find out what happened that there are no dealers in Ontario?

And did you decide on the 150 DC, and if so, how do you like it?

Sorry, just when I thought things had settled down at work, I got sent off on another project, been away quite a bit.

So, as a result of the travel, nothing has been done about a boat. In fact, short of taking the old one out of the garage to wash and wax it, it hasn't moved since last fall! :/ We're going camping for a week the 2nd half of August after our son's wedding, so that will be the first outing I'll have had for this season. Can't wait to retire.

Still can't get the little Triumphs off my mind, despit constant pressure from the wife that, if we change, she would prefer a pontoon boat to another hull boat. Personally, I can't see myself trailering something the size of a small football field, and I certainly won't feel great about paying for storage for eight months of the year.

I haven't checked, but it struck me that if I take the shelves out of the back of the garage, I might be able to fit a 17' Triumph in there. Mind you, that would make the 50 hp motor seem a bit small, though, so I still feel "darned if I do/darned if I don't".

In a good way, that is.

Hi
I live in Montreal and they had a Triumph dealer about 30 min from my place. I went to see them and see the boat. Then I went on the internet and found the same boat for $18,000 dollars less then the Canadian dealer wanted in Portland Maine. I called the dealer in Maine and made the deal with them they even took my old boat as a trade in. I called Canadian custom and since the boat was made in the US. under NAFTA (free trade) there were no duties to pay. Another bonus was bringing the boat in threw Ontario and being a Quebec resident I did not have to pay Quebec sales tax because Ontario customs does not collect the Quebec taxes, all I had to pay was GST.
I also was concerned about the warranty but there are so many Yamaha dealers around here that can service the engine if I had a problem. and really nothing much to worry about with a brand new 215 after all its built like a tank and for a $18,000 savings I would chance it.
After 3 months of owning the boat I had a issue with the vinyl seat cushion discoloring. I called Triumph and they sent me new seats to Canada under warranty. I had to pay for shipping.
The dealer in Montreal would not negotiate at all because he knew he was one of the only few dealers around, In the States there is a lot more competition and you will get a much better price and with the Canadian dollar almost at par with the US it worth the drive.
P.S. Its a Great! Boat.
