Should I transfer the Hull Warranty?

I have a question for some of you 2nd owner triump'ers. Actually this question is for everyone.

Did you transfer your warranty? Did you ever need any warranty work done on your used triumph?
I mean I know 200 bux is a drop in the bucket compared to everything else but is it waste? I mean these boats are supposed to be tough. More then likely they will last.

What are you opinions about this?

thx

When I sold my first 210 the new owner seemed to have no problem paying the $300 transfer fee. I think it is for peace of mind. Knowing the cost of the boat hull, paying $200 for a Lifetime warranty on it seems pretty good to me. When someone buys my 2006 215 the hull warranty transfer will be free.

For anyone selling or buying a used Triumph you can download the Warranty Transfer form in our downloads section located here: http://www.triumphowners.net/forums/...p?do=file&id=1

Remember that you have to have the Transfer paperwork in Triumph's hands within 15 days of the sale.

Understood. However, I was able to extend mine because of the type of sale. I suppose I will just send it in. I was wondering if anyone has done any warranty service on a 170cc. Doesn;t seem to have that many issues at all.

Thanks NC,

Blue, I am transfering the warranty to our college son this year, just so he has the warranty for as long as he wants the boat.

He really does not get possession of the boat till I am too old to go out by myself. We hope he has to wait at least 10 years or longer.

We know that our plastic boat will last that long, and then he will have a boat. AND any boat is better than no boat.

He also likes our plastic craft, so I can see him getting new electronics and a new motor, not selling it.

Thanks, You even feel very confident that the boat will last forever.
I probably will transfer the warranty I guess. The only warranty work I have seen done on this site seems to be options etc. I just don't see what in these hulls will fail because of craftsmanship.

thx

BlueCrab,

There is always a possibility of some catastrophic failure (i.e. cracks developing in the hull, having the bow eye come out with a chunk of hull attached, etc). Having that peace of mind is worth the $$ IMHO. Just like insurance on your car or house, you hope you never need it. But if you do, you will be glad you had it. Just my 1/50th of a dollar.

Blue I have not heard of any hull failures on 170CC but don't forget about "Murphys Law" He's always lurking around somewhere that has to do with boating. I would not want to be the owner of the first 170CC that had a crack in the hull without a warranty. I had a 170CC and I think it is the best all around boat that Triumph makes but "stuff" happens!!!
