Angry Canceled Orders

I wanted to know if any of you know what is going on? I bought my boat March 20th at the Fred Hall Show in Del Mar, CA. Was expecting to take delivery this coming weekend and called AA Marine in Vista, CA April 18th. They said that Triumph stopped producing the 2005 Hulls and are moving on to the 2006 Hulls. My engine, a Suzuki DF140 has been registered with Suzuki, and the clock for the 6 Year Warranty is clicking. My options are:

1) I can receive a 2005 with a Yamaha 115 within a week for a little less.

2) I can wait until June to receive the 2006 Triumph 190 Bay for the same price.

3) My money can be refunded.

I have contacted Triumph concerning the differences between the 05' and 06' and haven't received a reply although the dealer said the changes are cosmetic. Does anyone know the differences or have any suggestions? Also, has this happened to any of you?

Sincerely,
Sean Ford

well first off sorry to hear of your delema, If it were up to me, I would wait for the one you picked out...dont settle for less, even though you may be worried about the warrenty....don't be. warrenty is applied when you take ownership....not untill then. AA marine is famous for promising something but never on the given day.!! It is clearly thier fault for not knowing what is up with the factory...For now I would eithier be patient, or get your refund, go to L.A. and check out the dealers up there, you will probably get better service.

The warranty started a month ago, so I am missing 3 Months off my warranty. Sob, Sob, Choke, Choke, Cough, Cough. I don't want to deal with Johnson Marine because I don't like the salesman. I won't settle for any less power so I guess I'll have to wait until June. Is it so that AA Marine is bad at dates? Thanks for your reply!

I am confused how a warranty can start when you haven't taken delivery of your boat. Have you paid the dealer yet? Signed any papers? If not then the warranty cannot be active. And if you don't have your boat it is the dealers responsibility to take care of getting the hull they ordered from Triumph for you. Until you take delivery of the boat the Suzuki is simply in the dealers inventory. I'd wait for the boat I ordered and if the dealer isn't accounting for the engine in their inventory as unsold (in other words it is new and unused) then I'd get my deposit money back and tell the dealer to call you when the boat you ordered arrives, THEN you'll pay for it.

Have you talked to your dealer about the motor warranty? I don't see how anyone could justify starting the warranty period on an engine when it is not on the boat! I cannot imagine that the dealer would not take care of this for you if you're communicating with them. My $.02.

I guess the warranty didn't start. My belief that it did is because the registration has been filled out but we have only paid $5,000 as a down payment. We'll call and find out what is happening. Thanx!!!

I would be very surprised if it has. And I'm sure your dealer can take care of it for you. Communication with a dealer is always a key. Best wishes with the transaction and I hope something works out for you to get the boat sooner. Of course it would be pretty cool to get a 2006 hull if you thought you were going to get a 2005.

Sean, Your dealer probably registed the motor. If he didn't you would not be able to get the additionat 3 years, the cut off date was 3/31, so I think he was acting in your best interest. As for your boat, Triumph is still producing 05 models, however the backlog of boats ordered before yours, puts you into 06 models. the difference between 05 & 06 is graphics and upholstry color. I think it's best to wait and get the the latest "stuff"

I know it's tough to wait but depreciation wise you be better off with a one year newer model. Just a thought.

Excellent point Dick that we wouldn't have known otherwise. That's an additional 2 years and 9 months that wouldnt' have been had had it not been registered. Go dealer!

Just talked to Triumph today. I talked to an engineer and he said there are cosmetic changes, but the main thing is fishing ability. It is the same hull but they said they are adding features to make it focused on fisherman’s functions. I was told the rear jump seats are being changed. They wouldn't tell me anything else because they say that if people know what is being changed, people won't buy the 2005 Boats. Looks like this is for the better.
