Exclamation 2008 Triumph / Yamaha Service Bulletin Alert

Hi folks...Today I received Service Bulletin SB: 08-07B regarding the engine warning lights. This applys to all 2008 Models.

Improper wiring of the Warning Lights due to a missing jumper wire is the problem. We are to contact our dealer and have the situation repaired. The Bulletin makes it clear that this will not impact the warranty as the "horn" alarms still work, etc. Essentially, this means to me that any problems arising from failure to hear the horn will not be covered by Yamaha!

I wanted to bring this to your attention so those impacted can communicate on the site as to what is involved, how the lights can to be checked to see they are working properly, etc

Actually, I brought a similar issue to the dealer's attention about a month ago. Specifically, I have never owned a boat where the warning lights did not engage and then go off when you turn the ignition key to the "on" position to let the know the system is armed and working.

I was told this only happens if you have the digital guages (I have analog)...not to worry about it. Can anyone shed any light on how these warning work when you start the engine? Is the dealer correct that there is no system check by momentarily coming off and off?

I have a 195CC and would appreciate any 2008 owners input on how their lights are working now at startup...Thanks and hope this helps us to make sure we get this right. We all know what will happen if the lights fail and we don't know it-John

The bulletin was directly from Triumph. My boat is part of the recall and just happens to be in for the ten hour Yami thing so hopefully they will catch it. I talked to the service dept and they hadn't got the info or the parts yet so we'll see if it gets fixed.

The bulletin was signed by Russ, Service Manager Triumph Boats...it came from zip code 27705 and mailed 05/22/08. Hope that helps to make sure this is "legit"-John

For the heck of it...do your lights flash or come on and off when you turn on the ignition?

The idiot lights have never come on before during or after running the motor. I figured the option wasn't available for my boat.
According to the notice you can still run the motor because the horn still works.....hope it really does!
According to Triumph (emailed them today) the notices to the customers were sent out at the same time that the dealer information was sent out. Guess I would have sent the dealer stuff out first because my dealer's service person's response to my query about the jumper wire fix was HUH! Hopefully they'll get the wiring fixed ASAP as the freshwater fishing is great and I am heading up the coast for Strippers very soon.

I wasn't questioning whether it was "legit" Old Barney. I wanted to clarify if the bulletin was from Triumph or Yamaha since you didn't say in your original post.

Bring plenty of ones!

It never occurred to me that there is no warning system on my 07. What gives?
