Cleaning my 195 CC help...

I live in southern california and own a 195 CC. I was wondering what the best cleaning agent would be for my boat. The fires last fall dropped ash all over it, and has made it almost impossible to clean off. It seems like the ash has bonded with the ropelyene. I had a cover on it and the ash still made it's way onto my boat. I couldn't wash it off immediatley because I was evacuated from where I live.

And May the Force be strong with you as you fire up the pressure washer

Mr. Clean Magic Erasers, and SoftScrub works great as a brightner.

Maybe some straight acetine and a scuff pad. Then use a combination of a power washer, softscrub, and magic erasers. You may have to scrub hard and then buff it with an electric buffer to bring the finish back. Either way it sounds like you have your work cut out for you.

Wow! Sounds like that fire was too close for comfort. I happy to hear your boat (and you, of course) survived it.

As for cleaning, as others have suggested, a pressure washer will remove most of your ash problem. You may have to get the nozzel close and go slow but it will remove the grime. The surface of the Roplene is not smooth (like fiberglass) and is covered in little "pockets" so it catches little bits of dirt. That's the reason for the infamous "little black dots" we all get at one time or another. The pressure washer is able to remove the dirt that regular water and scrubbing cannot. If you don't have a pressure washer available, a wand type of do-it-yourself car wash works just as well.

Good luck.

I use a softer tip on my pressure washer and don't have any problems with the seats.

You're right though, the pressure washer does a great job of cleaning the boat, especially the floor.
