Simple Green works well. I don't dilute it - spray it on and use a soft brush on the whole deck. Boat is bright white again. Works especially well on those autumn leaf stains, scuff marks and fish guts.

Boat Cleaning Product
I have a 2004 170 CC. Yes, these boats are a little harder to keep clean than what I thought when I first got mine. Reading the Boat Manual that comes from Triumph, they mention that a couple of applications of ArmourAll (spell?) is recommended. My wife and I put 2 applications on early this last summer. Made a great deal of difference of cleaning it. I only put the ArmorAll on the outside and on the inside walls..because it can get 'slick'. Really helped the ease in cleaning after in the water. Was able to stop using so much 'soft scrub' product. The 'soft scrub' product will dull the finish if used to much on the sides.
I will be applying another 2 coats of 'ArmorAll' the start of next season and again probably mid-season. Once it is on, when you come back in from the lake,,just take a mild soap and warm water..and that pretty well does the trick. Hope this helps! I struggled some at the beginning like you..and said there has to be an easier way! |

I also like Simple Green. But for those tough stains like to use the power washer. Nothing like 2800psi of water to remove a little dirt and one month of bottom growth

I posted this on the old site.
I use "Orange" contains pumice and manufactured by "gojo" bought it at Costco. This is actually a mech. hand cleaner, but I have found it work's great on white plastic lawn chairs. Just rub it in, then rinse off. Since the boat is plastic, I tried it on the hard to clean areas and it works great and your boat smells like oranges!!! |

Boat cleaning product
I guess I am more radical then most. I use a ¼ solution of greased lightening or other degreaser and ¼ bleach and 50% water. Using a pump sprayer, I spray the boat inside and let sit for 5 minutes. Then I take a brush and hit the really dirty stops. I then use my pressure washer rinse away. I find that the bleach kills the mildew that develops in the pours of the plastic. I’ll might give the Armor All a try.

Just be careful about the amount of bleach you use that might make it into the bilge area. Bleach can be a little rough on the wiring harness and the last thing one needs is to loose is power to their bilge pump. I always rinse my boat (allowing it to get enough water to get into the bilge pump to help flush it out) and the trailer with a product called Salt Away. More information can be found here about it
http://www.saltawayproducts.com/ And I buy it a West Marine. Good stuff, I flush the engine with it and if the winds come up while I am off fishing, I wash and rinse my truck off with it also since it sat at the boat ramp getting hit with the salt spray while I am out. Something you might want to also consider using if you live above the Mason/Dixon line and have to drive through an Ocean 4 months or more of the year from all the road salt and the effects it has on your automobiles. When I was stationed up north, my truck sucked up about a gallon of bondo a year in the futile attempt to try and stay ahead of all the body rust… For real tough stains though I have found that acetone works well. Keep it away from any stickers and make sure you use gloves and don’t snort it too much! Ha-Ha... That stuff can be a little rough on the old sinus if you know what I mean… Hope this helps! Dave |
