Fish catching machine

The 4th of July a few buddies and I went to Catalina Island in my new 210CC. Swell was about 4' and coming from different directions. We were able to cruise comfortably at about 27 mph without slamming or jumping and stayed dry the whole way. With the tilt and trim tabs you can set this boat up to swim pretty nice. So we left about 5am and got to the island in under an hour. That used to take forever in my other boats. Found a little honey hole on the front side and stayed there all day. We caught a few barracuda, some calico bass, bonita, and about 4 yellowtail. A couple of them were worth keeping. The bait stayed alive the whole day. Added a 25gallon trashcan bait tank to the swim step with a transom mount bilge pump (500gpm) for the bait pump which worked great. Only needed to use about 5 baits from that tank which goes to show you that the bait tank in the 210 is very adequate with a few minor issues like occasional overfilling and the strainer over the drain tube. Some water in the bilge but the pump handles it fine. I installed a second bilge pump that drains into the splashwells. I also have a manual bilge hand pump just in case (less than 30bucks at west marine) We have caught more fish in the 4 trips with the new boat than I did in all the trips on my last 2 boats combined. Thanks again to the site I love this boat!!!

I just don't see how you can fish with all those mountains starring at ya! Nice sushi.

Nice catch, where did you launch from, that gets you there under an hour.
I think if I launched from Oceanside...It would still take min of 1 1/2 hour to get there.

Launching from Cabrillo launch ramp it is about 26 miles to Catalina. This boat scoots right along so doesn't take too long.

Must be nice to be that close. I have never been there, but I would like to venture this summer.
