What is deadrise?
All this new boat stuff got me looking at specifications. I am ok with all of it except Deadrise. What is it, where is it measured, why does it matter?

My understanding is limited, but basically the less deadrise the flatter the bottom of the hull as measured on angle to the beam. So, for example, a 18 deadrise will be a deeper V than a 14 deadrise. (191 compared to the 190). The flatter bottom will roll less but the V will cut through the water better. Less roll is better for fishing but more V is better for getting to the fishing spot.
