Short of climbing on and opening everything I looked the 06 (215) over pretty good. The only structural change visable was the addition of the bow pulpit and it looked like a slightly heaver bow rail.
Other changes I noticed were the mega storage cover is now double hinged to fold lower when fully opened, this is to acomidate the added back rest for the cooler seat. I also noted the change in mounting for the cooler to make it easier to remove and replace. The combing bolsters have changed in style and mounting, they are now all around the boat and molded to openings in the gunnel. They also are mounted differently not slid into screwed on plastic grooves. While on the subject of cushions the set up for the rear seats is a nice change and will make the back seats more comfortable to sit in.
The center console also has changes. The went to a better switch as opposed to the rubber covered toggle. inside the cabnet you can now flush mount your electronics. they moved the washdown to the cockpit side of the console and have the coiled hose and housing monuted there. The also moved the battery switch from inside the console to the cockpit side so you can access it from the captians seat, and they added a tackle box between the two. Speaking of captians seats. they changed to a new style that looke sweeeet. but I bet are $$. That is all I can think of off hand and are jus the visable changes. I have posted pics in the 210 area if you want to look there. I dont know if any other changes were made, I should have climbed all over it. I really liked the changes I saw though.

Looks like mostly cosmetic stuff but if I buy it will definitely be the 215. The dealer I went to had 2 in stock but no info pamphlets yet.

I have a 2005 170c/c with 75 Yamaha 4 stroke. On the 170c/c for 2006 what I saw was this: nylon cleats and fishing pole holders changed to stainless steel, Fixed seat cushion on front of console and no hatch there for electronics ease of wiring dash. Hatch is now in rear under steering wheel, rear cushions slide into a track and snap in at rear in lieu of just snapping on, less chance of loss while underway at speed and looking forward they won't unsnap and fly away (good idea). Console seat is with removeable cooler and independant frame in lieu of fixed mount cooler with sliding backrest (I like mine better), Instrumentation is now White faced (mine is black & like it better too), Also added 2 small removable floors for the front lockers (Love those little adds and made a set for mine), last thing I saw was the front navigation light was permanent in lieu of the removable type (no opinion on this yet) That's all I could tell at the time I looked at the new one. Oh yeah, one more thing, I was told they raised the price 6%. IMHO find a 2005 leftover, we never use the rear seating, always use the front console hatch for upgrading electronics and you can easily add the rear hatch in Grey like we did, and the nylon cleats and pole holders are all part of a plastic boat anyway. Also keep in mind the discount for a leftover with same warranty!!LIFETIME!!!!

I agree with Suitekids. Grab an '05 while they are available. The front hatch makes the electronics very accessible, and you can still store in the CC by lifting the cushion. I cut a tackle loker into the front of my '04 CC to take advantage of the space. (photos in 170 mods section). I suppose you could cut in the access panel on the bow side, but why pay '06 prices?

I permanently mounted a bow navigation light to my '05 170cc for $24. I like it much better than the pole that was there before. I do like the seat with removable cooler for the '06, but the price quote I got was too steep to switch over to it.

One thing I noticed on the 06 170CC is the flip flop helm seat with new metal framing is now adjustable through several notches. This is a significant improvement imo because it might allow one or more passengers to sit backwards at the helm with a view aft for any traffic or other potential problems in that direction. We have a guy come around our normally peaceful corner of the Chesapeake Bay in his Cigarette type speed boat every now and then and he can appear out of nowhere at 60 mph +.
