195 CC fuel vent line fix
After reading about all the fuel filling problems and talking to a nearby owner of a 195 cc. I decided to take a close look at the possible fuel vent situation. It came clear right away that that this could be an issue so made a modification to stop the vent problems while fueling.
I took the 90 deg. vent fitting off the fuel tank and made it into a tee and reinstalled.I put the original hose back on as it was and added a hose at the opposite end and ran it starboard to vent outside the Center console just above the raw water wash down, where I installed a shut off valve that I will open while fueling and shut off after fueling. This added vent line will not hold fuel that blocks the line from properly venting. Happy fueling Fishrubber |

Thanks for the reply, I knew that this would have some issues as far as being legal or not and that this would not be a fix that triumph would do. I plan on having my boat safety inspected by the Coast Guard as soon as it gets all the safety and electronics installed. I will ask them at that time if this vent has any issues with them. Easy enough to put back the way it was.
But I feel that the operation of opening this vent while performing routine service or maintenance and not open while motoring should not be a problem. I know how the coast guard and many other agencies view spilling fuel into our water ways and the repercussions one would get if fuel was spilt during a refuel at a marina while on the water, or even at a gas station. Spilling fuel these days is really taken seriously. Just my thoughts on the matter. |
