Thumbs up jet drive outboard

hi

i am interested in buying a triumph boat for use in the shallow rivers around the missouri area and was wondering if anyone has installed a jet drive outboard on their triumph boat

the transom on the small to mid size boats seems to be 20" and the motors that i have been looking at are for 25" transoms--is there an adaptor or jack plate that will work???

i am leaning towards a 17cc with about a 65hp jet drive

any info would be greatly appreciated

Mounting brackets for jet drive outboard

Hotrod -

I believe there are "L" brackets available for mounting jetdrive outboards 5 inches higher on the transom. I spoke to these guys, and they seemed very knowledgeable on the subject:

To me - a jet drive on a Triumph hull would be the ultimate combination - assuming that the hull design was compatible . I am not sure exactly what issues are involved. I have a 190 Bay, and the jetdoctor gentleman and I spoke for a long time about whether or not a jet drive would work on my hull. The 14 degree "V" on mine might split the water and push it away from the jet intake, whereas I guess you want the water to be directed toward the intake. I have read that a 12 degree or less is most desirable. I would love to see someone put a jetdrive on a Triumph. Good luck. -Andrew

I would buy one also. A lot of the rivers in my boyhood home of Pennsylvania are really shallow with rocks that like to eat props for fun. A jet drive tunnel hull would be perfect. I assume that would also be great for the flats fishing folks.

Hey Triumph, are your listening??
