I suppose you could mount one on the transom instead of the bow. Personally, I had the bow rail on mine when I bought it. It seemed to get in the way more than I cared for when fishing so I traded it out for smaller grab rails with my dealer. Best move I made. That cleared up the front to allow for the trolling motor to be mounted and made for easier fishing by not having to worry about hitting the rail with a rod when casting in tight cover. I'm sure you can come up with a motor type and/or mounting configuration that will allow you to keep the rail and mount a motor, but you may be limited to a few choices. I really dislike having to fuss with things to make them work...and every time you use it, it gets more frustrating.
Most people want the bow rail because they have small kids and feel more security having the rail in place. In reality, all passengers (esp. children) should be seated when the boat is in motion with life jackets on. When anchored, children should still keep their life jackets on and be taught boating safety.
If I had to do it over again, I would still get rid of the bow rail and mount the trolling motor...way more flexibility and easy to use. Just my 1/50th of a dollar.
Let us know what you find out.
