Question 170CC 2004 with Johnson 50-4 Stroke

Stumbled on to this web site surfing for info and it was a tremendous help. Looking at this boat (170CC 2004 with Johnson 50 hp 4 Stroke) one owner, low hours and the remaining question I still have is regarding the outboard. I found that it was manufactured by Suzuki, but more than that is a mystery to me. I realize the HP is minimal, but it is what it is for a reasonable price. Any feedback on this setup?

I will be trying before buying if the ice ever leaves Down East Maine.

Thank You

Hi,
I can't comment on the motor, but the boat is fantastic. I just bought one in march and have been out fishing 3 times now and loved every minute of it.

Go for it,
Jim

I own a 2002 170 CC with a 50 hp Yamaha 2 stroke. As a fishing boat it's adequately powered for Lake Bomoseen in VT. You'll want more horses if you intend to tow water toys or water ski. I've been involved with all sorts of boats in all kinds of sloppy water on that lake for almost 50 years and can say that the 170 has the smoothest rough water ride I've experienced in a 17 footer. This spring I intend to add a hydrofoil to the cavitation plate for better low speed performance.

Hope this helps.

I own an 01 17CC with a 90 Yammie for use in the sounds and some offshore fishing. It is over powered with just me and one other person, but when I have a full boat load or I NEED to get in quick I do appreciate the extra power.
It all depends on what your gonna use it for......
