1997 Logic 170CC

I have been looking at the Triumph boats. I have found a used Logic 170 CC 1997. It looks like the weight and capacity is less than current 170CC models. I was wondering if this is due to less plastic in the boat and would this make the boat unsafe. It is hard to find much information on the older logic boats and wondering if there is any good or bad experiences with these on this forum. Thanks, any information would be helpful.

Like many, I have NO first hand knowledge of the 1990's era Logics.

I do know that some boats of that era are still in service as part of a rental fleet near us. They told my son and I that they keep replacing motors but that our northern visitors have hit every oyster bed, sand bar, bridge, and dock, and the boats just keep going. They are not even stored / supported correctly.

It is also my opinion that Triumph, and many other boat manufactures, keep making their boats better every year. The 2008 models have some very nice features that I wish my 2005 model had, but no way am I trading. We have made to many changes to get her just the way we like.

Early LOGIC owner.

I believe there was a change in the mold; don’t know how drastic, in the 170cc Logic in 1997/1998. Mine was one of the first out of the new mould. I drove to the factory from New Mexico and picked it up. The boat has been satisfactory and tough after many MAJOR modifications from bow to stern!

In my opinion the bow is a bit too tender, but certainly workable. Tuff hull and friendly to work on. All boats have problems but glad to have a Logic.

Helpful Hints.

YOU ONLY NEED TWO TOOLS IN LIFE - WD-40 AND DUCT TAPE. IF IT DOESN'T MOVE AND SHOULD, USE THE WD-40. IF IT SHOULDN'T MOVE AND DOES, USE THE DUCT TAPE.

IF YOU CAN'T FIX IT WITH A HAMMER, YOU'VE GOT AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM.

I checked with the factory on this and here was their response:

We have changed some of the construction techniques that would change the weight and rating however nothing that would compromise the safety of the boat.
