do you mount a transducer directly to transom or glue something to mount it to first, dont want to drill into transom with the screw holding problems? just bought a new 215 T bring it home sat april 12 rain or shine. Last boat glued plastic small panel and scewed to that. Also will self contained gps antenna in the garmin 535 see threw the t top cloth not aluminimum.

Hi Tom C. You mount the transducer directly to the transom but be sure to use RULE Elastomeric to coat the screws well and seal the mount. The screws will hold fine unless you strip them out. Even then you can repair easily. I'm not sure about your gps antenna question so I'll let someone else address that. BTW once you have your Triumph hull ID number please register an account with us for a free 1-year Captains Club Member subscription. Congratulations on the new 215!

hello tom c. your garmin 535 should work even shooting threw canvus most gps will work inside cars so yours should work.stuff like buildings is what they have trouble with. there is one good way to find out hook it up and see. but i dont think you are going to have any trouble with it. good luck and the 215 is a nice boat enjoy

and too tom this is only the tip of the icebird of what this site can offer you in the way of good info about your triumph i know that it sure has helped me i have a 215 too.what i am saying is get a subscription you want regret it. good boating

GPS and Transducer

Hi Tom,

With the attached photos, you will see I use a small Garmin 72 GPS. This GPS has a built in antenna and doesn't have a problem picking up a signal through the Bimini top.

I attached the depth sounder with the stainless steel screws supplied and filled the hole with RULE and coated the screws with the same sealent.

The sealent sets up quickly, so have everything ready (holes drilled, screw driver, rags, etc.). You can clean up with mineral spirits.

I purchased my 170CC in February and have been having a blast.
